YOUR POV

It has been a week since everyone got back. And I haven't seen Katie at all, she's been barely answering my texts or calls. I've seen Marcus some this week but not a whole lot. I heard a knock on the door and paused my anime. I ran downstairs and Katie stood there with a nervous look on her face. I opened the door and pulled her in. I made her sit down.

"Tell me, what's wrong?" I said demandingly.

"Okay, but you can't get mad." Katie said as she avoided eye contact.

"Okay, just tell me." I said as I looked at Katie.

"I'm, leaving to go back to America, and I don't know when I'll be coming back." Katie said as she looked down.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

"W-What about Martinus? You can't just leave us." I said as tears filled my eyes.

"I-I know, I'm so sorry. My niece is in the hospital and she's in critical condition." Katie said as she started crying as well.

"W-When do you leave?" I asked.

"T-Tomorrow. I'm so sorry, but I didn't want to tell you because I knew you'd be sad." Katie said. I hugged her and held her close.

"When are you going to tell him?" I asked.

"I-I can't tell him. Will you tell him? I can't bear to see him hurt like that." Katie said as she wiped some of her tears.

"Y-Yeah." I said not even wanting to think about how he'll react.

Katie stood up.

"My plane leaves at 6 tomorrow, it's an overnight flight. Will you take me to the airport?" Katie asked.

"Of course." I said as I smiled weakly.

Katie excused herself and left to finish packing.

I fell onto the couch and grabbed the zombie alpaca Marcus got me from Hot Topic. I always held him when something bad happened.

I sat and tried not to think about how my best friend was leaving me tomorrow. I fell asleep holding him.

I woke up the next morning quite early and got dressed, only to remember that Katie didn't need to be picked up until about 5. I decided to go over to Katie's house and hangout with her before she leaves. I drove over to her house and opened the door without knocking.

"HONEY I'M HOME!" I shouted as I sat on the couch.

Katie came in and jumped on top of me. A small "oof' escaped my mouth.

She laughed and got off. I groaned and fell onto the hardwood floor, I then groaned again because the floor was cold.

"WHY?!?!" I asked.

"THE FLOOR IS LAVA!" Katie screamed as she jumped onto the couch and began counting.

I jumped up, then I fell back onto the floor.

"UH NO!" Katie said as she pulled me onto the couch. I smirked and pushed her off. We both laughed and got up, we went into her room and I saw clothes strewn everywhere. I sighed and quickly helped her pack. I checked the time and I saw it was nearly 5.

"KATIE WE GOTTA GO!" I screamed even though she was right next to me.

"OW! And okay let's go." Katie said as we walked towards the door. We got in the car and headed to the airport. I told her that I would wait at the airport with her until her plane took off. I then cranked up the music and we jammed on the way.

We sat in the airport bored out of our minds. Katie's flight got delayed by half an hour. We just started jamming to music and everyone was looking at us weird. Katie's flight finally got called and she had to go. We had an emotional goodbye and I told her to make sure she called me. I watched her plane takeoff and sadness overcame me. I drove back home in dead silence.

I couldn't sleep that night, knowing my best friend was in another country. I texted Marcus and told him to come over.

When he got here he asked why Katie wasn't here because she spent almost to all of her time here. I could feel the sad look coming over my face. He looked at me after I hadn't responded for a while and grabbed my arm gently.

"(Y/n), what happened?"

I buried my face in Marcus's arm.

"K-Katie left." I managed to choke out over my tears.

Marcus's face turned to a face of shock and he tensed. His arms slowly wrapped around me. I sat there crying when something hit me. How was I going to tell Martinus?

"Marcus. H-How are we going to tell Martinus?" I cried as I tried to pull myself closer to him.

Marcus paled. He sighed and pulled me closer. We fell back onto the bed and sat there for a while.

I had stopped crying now, but I could tell Marcus was upset. I jumped when Marcus's phone rang. A picture of Martinus appeared and he sat me down on the bed and answered his phone. I could briefly hear Martinus's voice asking where Katie had been because he hadn't seen her all day.

"Martinus, we have something we need to tell you. Come over to (Y/n)'s house later, okay?" Marcus said while looking at the wall.

I could hear Martinus start to panic.

"W-Why? What happened?" He asked frantically.

"Calm down, everything's fine, well, as fine as they can be at the moment. Just come over okay? And don't panic." Marcus said as he put on a calm facade.

Marcus hung up and fell back onto the bed. He sighed. I hugged him and I feared for when Martinus got here.

I did some writing to help keep me occupied. I started writing a story about Katie and myself. The time flew by and next thing I knew it was 6 pm. Martinus should be here sometime. I looked around my now dark bedroom and Marcus wasn't in there. I slowly walked into the living room to see Marcus asleep on the couch. I jumped on him to wake him up. He gasped and caught me. There was a knock on the door and Marcus sat me on the couch and went to answer it.

Martinus stood there.

"Where is she! Tell me she's okay!" Martinus said as tears welled up.

I walked over to him and hugged him.

"Martinus....

Katie's gone."
