I woke up in the hospital, the first thing that I noticed was that the normally strong smell of medical supplies didn't fill my nose or bring a nauseating feeling. I slowly sat up and winced when a sharp pain filled my head and lead to my nose. I slowly looked around once my eyes adjusted to the light. I saw I was in an empty hospital room, I took a second but the memories came flooding back to me. I closed my eyes and sat back and groaned as I remembered all that happened. 'How the hell did I pass out from a nosebleed?' I asked myself. I heard the door open and the clicking of shoes leading up to my bed. I didn't open my eyes and assumed it was just the nurse.
"Ms. (L/n)? Are you awake?" The kind sounding nurse asked.
I slowly opened my eyes and nodded. She smiled and checked all my fluids.
"Hey, what happened after the car ride over here?" I asked.
"Oh yes, you see, the way your face impacted a wall, it hurt the sphenopalatine artery, or the vein that allows blood flow to the nose. Causing excessive bleeding, I was told you passed out from blood loss on the way. You got here just in time, while you were sleeping we repaired the vein. You have some visitors waiting to see you, would you like me to let them in?" The nurse asked as she finished telling me what happened.
I only nodded, partly because I was in shock. And partly because no one had given me anything to drink since I arrived beside I.V fluids. The nurse quickly left the room, I closed my eyes once again, I soon heard the door open and whispered to them, assuming that it was once again the nurse.
"Could you turn that damn light off?" I whispered because my voice was hoarse.
I saw the lights turn off but then I felt someone walk over to me and hug me.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" Someone asked.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw Marcus, his face was etched with worry and now relief. I smiled.
"Hey, I'm okay. How long have you been waiting to see me?" I asked.
Marcus smiled.
"We've been waiting since you got here, we were too worried to just leave." Marcus said as he grabbed my hand.
"You guys didn't have to do that. Oh, and is the swelling bad?" I asked.
I saw Marcus look around the room nervously. I quickly looked around for my phone, when I found it I opened the camera and I was shocked at what I saw. My nose was swollen more than it was originally, I also had stitches running down the bridge of my nose. All I could do was gasp. I felt tears stinging my eyes but I refused to let them fall. I saw the look on Marcus's face quickly turn into one of sadness as he saw the expression on my face. He squeezed my hand as I quickly shook the tears away.
"Hey, where is Katie? I haven't seen her or Martinus yet." I asked in attempt to get my mind off of my mutilated nose.
Marcus's face lit up.
"Oh! Yeah I'll go get them I'll be right back." Marcus said as he ran out of the room.
As he was running down the hall I heard the nurse yell at him to stop running. I laughed and opened my phone. I saw I had some missed texts from my mother. Most of the messages were her explaining why she wasn't there and her asking if I was doing okay. I responded that I was doing okay and I told her about the vein in my nose. I shut my phone off as I heard footsteps leading to my room once again. As the door opened I was bombarded by who I could only assume was Katie. She basically squeezed the life out of me. We talked for a while until the doctor came in. She said that there will be minimal scarring in the nose, but in a few months they should be healed and that the swelling should decrease within a couple of hours. She also said she wanted to monitor my nose for a few more days, but then I was free to be released. Everyone was happy about that. They all wanted to go get some food, but something hit me. I realized I hadn't gone to the bathroom at all since I got to the hospital. I excused myself and booked it to the bathroom, ignoring the slightly numb feeling in my legs.
Once I got done I walked out and the numbing feeling in my legs hit me. I almost fell but Marcus helped me stand. The nurse laughed and nodded a little.
"Ah yes, that's normal. You haven't gotten up since you came in last night so your legs may be a little numb." She said as she excused herself.
I got changed into something with a back and, wait a second. Something that didn't show my underwear. Does that mean?! M-Marcus saw my underwear. I paled and everyone looked at me weird. Marcus asked if I was okay and I turned red. I was going to say something, but I slowly walked, front to them, to the bathroom. Almost running into the door. I closed the door and started getting dressed. I heard Katie say something and Martinus busted out laughing. I didn't want to open the door but I had to. I quickly opened the door and walked out, my face was red. We quickly changed the subject and went to get some food.
