Naramdaman ni Katherina ang paghigpit ng hawak ni Yael sa kanyang kamay habang siya ay nakatalikod dito.

In her heart, she understood how he was doing his best to act normal and to hide from her everything he knew in order to protect her.

Kitang-kita ng dalaga ang lungkot sa mga mata ng binata kahit pa ngumingiti ito.

She was badly hurting for Yael.

Pain was apparent on her face as she decided to keep it a secret, for now, that she was already aware of everything.

Not today. Katherina pleaded.

Would it be too selfish if I ask to forget everything for now?

Gusto ko munang makalimot.

Gusto ko lang mahalin si Yael.

She turned to face him with the best smile she could give.

The couple held hands while waiting for their dinner to be served and talked about the things that had happened in the past few months. They laughed at how cheesy and clingy they were, and how all their troubles then seemed too small compared to the love they have for each other now.

Compared to the horrible reality that we will have to face soon, both had secretly thought.

They reminisced about the last time they were together - the masquerade dance. Katherina remembered how joyful she was that time.

Yael tried to erase from his mind all the bad memories brought by that fateful night, and retained only those which made him happy.

How Katherina looked so beautiful and regal as ever.

How they happily sang along to the songs on the radio on their drive going to the venue.

How he felt like the luckiest man in the universe for having her in his arms.

How they danced and laughed together like they were the only people on the dance floor.

These, all before Maia slapped his face with the truth about Katherina.

"If you could, would you go back to that night?" Katherina asked, not knowing that it was when Yael learned about her being the chosen Kataha.

Yael paused for a moment and contemplated on it. He remembered Katherina's smiles back then - they were priceless.

I'd go through all that pain over and over, if only to see you smile that way again, he thought.

He smiled at her. "Absolutely."

Their dinner was served and Katherina heartily ate her food. Sa loob ng halos dalawang linggo ay wala siyang ganang kumain, kaya't ngayon niya naramdaman ang lahat ng gutom at pagod sa kanyang mga pinagdaanan.

Yael watched her lovingly.

It was years since they met, and yet he still looked at her with the incredulous eyes of first love.

"Mr. Romualdez, nacoconscious na ako ha. Kumain ka kaya." Katherina said while slicing off a piece of steak. Yael's eyes did not miss how her cheeks turned pink. It pleased him.

 It pleased him
