Forgotten

McKenna's POV

I couldn't believed what I just heard. What was Kelly gonna do? Ethan would remember everything right? I had to wait forever for Ethan to get out.

Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock-

Hour after hour, episode after episode went by. Kelly was "crying" and "crying" for Ethan to get out. I looked at the clock and it was 3:45 am. I am so tired but I can't fall asleep until I know Ethan is alive and well.

I watched the last 15 minutes of the early morning news and reports of Ethan were going on and on. They were never ending I swear. I lost track of time and I looked at the clock and it was already 4:30.

"Excuse me, Miss Lily?"

"Yes dear?"

"When is Ethan going to be out? It's been hours"

She looked at her watch, then her clipboard which had all of Ethan's physical damages.

"Oh they should wheel him out any minute."

"Okay thank you" I moped back to my chair and sat next to Kelly. I would have sat in Mexico just to stay away from her, but there weren't any seats left. Not even one that could go in between us.

I heard a door slam open. Could that be Ethan? Most likely? Miss Lily went into the hall and I heard some chattering. She ran up to me and I could tell it was good news by the shimmer in her blue eyes.

She didn't have to say anything I got up and raced towards the room he was in. He was still asleep, just laying in bed. Mister and Misses Klein came in along with Kelly and my dad. Ethan's parents starting to kiss his forehead and cry tears of joy. Ethan woke up at 4:35 and I was so glad. He looked panicked. Very panicked and scared.

"Hey Ethan!" I cried. My eyes started watering and I ran to him with my arms open wide.

"Slow your role! Who are you?" He said

I stopped in my tracks. "What do you mean? I'm your best friend McKenna?" I started tearing up and crying years that weren't happy ones.

"Doesn't ring a bell." He shrugged. He grimaced at the pain in his shoulder.

Miss Cassidy, another nurse that helped him, stood in the corner and getting pain meds prescribed and out of the bottle.

"Here you go sweetie" Cassidy handed him the meds and a glass of water. He took them and bent back his head, threw in the pills, and took a huge gulp of water.

"So why am I here?" Ethan asked like the pain went away instantly.

"Well, we don't exactly know. Do you remember anything?" His mom put her hands on his and looked at him with gleaming eyes.

"Well, I do. I remember driving on the highway to my house from a band concert. Then I looked to my left so I could go into a different lane and boom. I ended up here."

His mom and dad exchanged glances. And shook their heads.

"Honey you didn't have a band concert. You were at homecoming. With McKenna."

"I don't know this lovely girl! I don't I swear! I was at a band concert!" He yelled and his parents went out of the room. I couldn't believe he couldn't remember his best friend.

"Oh honey! Tell me you remember me!" Kelly cried in hope

"No I can't say I do."

"I'm your girlfriend! Ethan, my name is Kelly. I have been your girlfriend since the 7th grade!" Her eyes glimmered and gleamed in hope. My eyes watered and shed a tear.

I couldn't believe he was actually believing her! He looked confused at first but then as she went on he looked like he remembered. He could remember anything but me. The car wreck, his parents, everything but me. Why? Why me? Why does it have to be like this.

I ran out of the room and back home. I couldn't show my face. I just, broke down and locked myself in my room. My pictures came crashing down from the force of my hand. I locked up the picture of Ethan and I last Halloween dressed up as the Doctor and the TARDIS. All those memories, just came crashing down into shreds and thrown away like a dead corpse.

I cried and cried and cried. Shattered glass was everywhere in my room and house. Ethan didn't remember me. He wasn't going to be there for me when I get hit on. He would usually shoo those guys off. I guess I'm on my own now.
