Beep beep. I heard from outside the door. I grabbed my phone and raced out the heavy door. I saw Jake standing by his convertible parked by the curb. I shuffled over to his car.

"Hey Jake!" I stood on my tip-toes just to give him a hug.

He replied by opening the door and waving a hand to let me know it was for me. I crouched down into the seat.

"Nice car" I said rubbing the interior.

"Thanks" he unparked the car and backed out of the col-de-sac I live in.

"How'd you get my address?" I asked puzzled

"I know people" he smiled and planted a kiss on my cheek.

"Okay" I returned the smile and we drove off.

I turned on the radio of the car and my favorite song was on: I'm so fancy by Iggy ft. And of course I started singing.

"IM SO FANCY"

"YOU ALREADY KNOW"

Lyric after lyric. Word after word. Before I knew it, we were at the park. It was packed with people and tons of screams coming from everywhere. I looked around, hand in hand with Jake, and just admired the beauty. The light of day reflecting off rides, the other couples hand in hand, friends wandering around. It reminded me of Ethan and that one time we came to the carnival. Stop it McKenna! You are here, with your boyfriend mind you, and you are NOT thinking about Ethan ever. Not. One. Bit.

"I would like... the unlimited wrist bands please." The lady was very nice and answered in her cheery voice, "that'll be $12.50 please"

Jake handed her a 20, she have us out change, and we headed off.

"Which ride do you want to go on first?" Jake looked down at my puny self an gave a smile.

I have a look around. Roller coasters, no. Ferris wheel, save that until later. Screaming eagle? Yes!

"Screaming eagle!" I pointed to it and jumped like a little kid. I heard Jake laugh.

"You are so adorable" he chuckled. We headed to the ride, flashed our neon bracelets, and went to the seats.

"Ladies and gentlemen. Can I please have your attention on me? I need you to pull down the amazingly colored bars above your head. Good." Whoosh.

"Okay. Now I'm just coming around and just pulling on these color bars." He pulled mine and it was secure. "Okay guys. Who wants to have zero fun!" A few got tricked but everybody laughed. "Okay, let's have fun." The guy smiled and left the platform.

The contraption creaked and groaned. It started off with spinning slowly. The arm-like ride started swinging. The scary thing isn't going upside down, the scary thing is coming down. Your heart feels like it's tearing out of your back. But that's the fun part. The arm started swinging really high. Up, down. Up, down. Up, swing over, down. Up, swing over, down. That happened a few times until the ride slowed down. Then finally it stopped.

"How did you like that?" Jake said.

"Dizzy. But very fun."

He chuckled. "What now?" I asked

"Hmmm. How bout a roller coaster?" He led me over to a roller coaster. The sign above read "Time Vortex"

"Time Vortex? Isn't that the scariest ride here?"

"Not really. I mean maybe for the kids or something."

"Okay. I'm not scared" I shook my head and waited in line. We watched the screaming people race down the roller coaster. Loop after loop. Quiet, scream. Quiet, screams. It was really entertaining.

The carts came to a halt. The passengers climbed out and started talking to their friends about how scary the ride was. The line moved up. Jake and I stood on the platform and climbed in the carts. We were the cart in front.

"Please put your hands up" said the guy on the intercom. The bars collapsed on our legs and air escaped from the contraption. The guy went cart by cart checking the bars. "Okay ladies and gentlemen here are basic rules. Do not exit the cart during the ride. In other words, keep yourself on the cart. You may put your hands up for joy, but not to get out. For example" he screamed in joy and mocked people screaming. Everybody is in a good mood today. That made everything better.

The cart jolted forward and we started creaking up the hill slowly. "Are you excited?" I said looking at Jake.

"Hell yes!" He paused and looked forward, "I would totally kiss you right now but we don't have much longer until we get there."

He was right. We were stopped at the very top of the hill.
