Tomoki's POV (Half-Way through the dinner)
I stayed quiet and submissive as I ate, making sure that I was eating correctly, my elbows and forearms off of the table with my back standing up straight, a slight crook in my neck from the posture that I wasn't used to. Tamaki didn't seem used to it either from him always playing around at the club, not having to worry about his posture there. Mr. Tonnerre, which I learned the name of as Augustus, who mostly spoke to my father while Mrs. Tonnerre, Eva spoke to my grandmother. Me and Tamaki sat silently, cautiously nibbling on our dinner which consisted of Mash Potatoes, Green Beans, Meat Loaf, and Chilled Fennel Soup with Walnuts which I hated with a passion and usually Grandmother is very persistent whenever we have that soup to not let me have it because of my nut allergy, but since company was over she had better things to worry about than my allergy. I stared at my now cold soup, untouched but knew full well that if the Tonnerres saw my untouched soup they would think I was being stuck up about not eating it. Grandmother has told me in my lessons of Courting, you must clear your plate clean or else the people dining with you will think rudely of you. Nibbling on my piece of Meat Loaf, Eva suddenly spoke to me
"So, Tomoki. I heard that you play the Violin and Flute, how long have you been playing?" Eva asked me, taking half a spoonful of her green beans in her mouth before chewing and swallowing
"4 years with the flute and 3 with the violin." I told her, taking a sip of my water
"We currently thinking about giving Alphonse lessons of the Clarinet, perhaps you can teach him a thing or two when he arrives." Over my dead body. Is what I wanted to say but held my tongue. I nodded before Grandmother eased herself into the conversation
"I have been thinking of teaching her a new instrument to play, any suggestions?" Grandmother asked Eva making her think for a moment
"Perhaps the Xylophone? I have heard that it may be challenging to play but sounds beautiful with more practice."
"Perhaps, we shall see, won't we Tomoki?" Grandmother asked me and I nodded at her
"Yes, Grandmother." A few minutes of silent overcame the five of us, only Father and Augustus speaking, only for Father to drag me into the conversation
"She's very academic and at the top of all of her classes, you have my mother to thank for that."
"Alphonse is at the opposite of that scale, he passes by the skin of his teeth in all subjects. Makes me wonder what he does in his spare time when we aren't home." I caught myself from bursting out in laughter, holding it all in. Because he is too busy being a jackass playboy. I stated in my head, glad that I didn't say it outloud or else I would have gotten a serious beating. Tamaki seemed to have think of the same, knowing full well of Alphonse's past with girls of any kind
"Darling, are you full? You haven't touched your soup yet." Eva asked me once I finished my plate, the soup being the only thing I haven't consumed
"Tomoki, don't be rude in front of guests and eat your soup." Grandmother ordered me and I gulped, knowing full well if I even touched that soup I would burst out into hives with skin bloody red
"But Grandmother-!" Tamaki was about to defend me, only for Father to order him to sit down
"Sit down, Tamaki." Tamaki obediently sat down, having no choice but to
"Shizuye she doesn't have to eat it if she doesn't want to, she's fine." Eva insisted, noticing my worried look
"No, Eva! It's common courtesy to eat everything on your plate!"
"It's fine! She doesn't have to force herself if she has had her fill!" Eva argued, clearly getting worked up about this, giving me a different impression of her from the submissive and quiet woman. Augustus's hard stare met mine, clearly trying to intimidate me into eating the damn soup, only I was stubborn just like my mother, never back down without a fight
"Quiet Eva, you have no part in this." I could hear a small whimper escape Eva's lips, making me angry of how he reflected his tone towards his wife
"Tomoki, eat the soup or you will get it later!" With a deep and controlled breath I stood up, my icy glare reflecting off of the light coming from the chandelier above the table large dining table
"No, Grandmother. As you know or have clearly forgotten, I am allergic to any type of nut, meaning if I eat the soup, infested with Walnuts, I will have an allergic reaction. But if you insist on your own greed of making a good first impression, then I shall but there will be consequences." Not caring of what would happen to me. I took my spoon and dipped it into the soup before bringing it up to my mouth, opening up my mouth slowly as the spoon neared closer to my lips. Tamaki's eyes widened, standing up abruptly his chair falling to the ground behind him
"Tomoki Rune Suoh, don't you dare missy!" Grandmother said to me in a warning tone making me inwardly smirk in triumph
"What? Just minutes ago you were ordering me to eat the soup without a care in the world. Votre Consequence." And in the spoon went, the cold liquid with the clear taste of walnut hitting my tongue before sliding down my throat.
