"Come on, (Y/N)," Sakuya said as he dragged you through the crowd of the party. "I want you to meet someone!"
He stopped in front of a boy with brown hair. "(Y/N), this is my friend Mahiru Shirota," He introduced. "Mahiru, this is (Y/N) (L/N)."
"Hi," Mahiru greeted as he extended his hand.
"Hi," You repeat as you shake his hand.
You continue having a casual conversation, Sakuya throwing in a joke once in awhile. But, you felt really out of place at the party so you really didn't listen. You then slipped away without Mahiru or Sakuya noticing and went over to the balcony, staring out into the city. You never really wanted to go to parties like this, you were always painfully shy around people and woulsn't make conversation with anyone.
"Hey, (Y/N)," You here someone call you. You turn around to see Mahiru standing in the entrence of the balcony holding two cups filled with punch. He holds out a cup for you to take from him.
"Here," He offers, holding out the drink. "For you."
"Thank you," You say, taking the drink.
You to stand in silence as you sip your drink. "So, uh," Mahiru began, rubbing the bag of his head. "Do you like the party, (Y/N)?"
"Not really," You told him. "I only came here because Sakuya asked me to come."
"Oh..." Mahiru said.
"I never really learned how to talk to people properly," You blurted out. "I thought if I never tried, I won't embarress myself."
"Well, you don't know if you never try," He mentored. "Like just now."
"What?"
"You just told me how you felt," He said. "Is it easier for you now?"
You covered your mouth with your hand as your face became red. You've never really been honest about something like that before, especially with someone you just met. You tried to hide your embarressment as Mahiru chuckled.
"Speaking simply," He said, pointing his thumb at himself. "It's gotta' be me that helps you."
For some reason, you felt like a heavy weight had been lift from you shoulders. Why would he help a person he just met with a problem like that? Especially with you being as honest as you were.
"Why?" You asked.
Mahiru smiled and crossed his arms. "Because you should always help people even if you just met them."
He took your hand and pulled you back into the party, running back into Sakuya's direction. "Sakuya's probably getting bored out of his mind waiting for us." He says smiling cheerfully.
"Yeah." You respond.
When you two got back to where Sakuya was, you all had a wonderful time for the rest of the party. And, for once, you actually had fun and felt like you belonged.
