"Beauty and the Beast" - Ariana Grande & John Legend

Tale as old as time

You woke up to the sound of the other villagers yelling and the bright light from a torch shining through your window, you hear your father's footsteps run down the hall and out the door. You put on your slippers and rush down the stairs, you push open the front door to see all of the villagers surrounding something. You push through the crowd as murmurs and whispers spread like wildfire.

"What is it?" One woman asks.

"A monster!" A man replies.

"We found it by the windmill." Someone informs.

"Don't let it get too close to the children!" One woman demanded, pulling her young son behind her. You eventually got to the front of the crowd to see a very tall man with a veil covering his face being bound by rope, held by three men, the tall man struggles to escape as one of them pushes him to the ground.

"What is the meaning of this?!" You turn your attention to the voice, your father was glaring at the three men.

"It's a beast!" Exclaimed one of the men. "An abomination!"

"What are you talking about!?" Your father shouts. "Please explain why you wake us all up in the dead of night and scare us half to death!"

"It's a bloody vampire!" The second man clarifies as secures the rope around the supposed vampire's waist. Your eyes widened and your jaw dropped when the 'vampire' turned into a snake, he tried to slither away, but somebody stepped on his tail and dumped a bucket of water on the reptile. A villager picks the seemingly-unconscious snake up and hands it to the trio.

"We'll tie it to the tree," One of them says. "He'll burn to death in the sunlight!"

True as it can be

As promised, the snake was tied with a rope to the tree just outside the village, hanging by its tail. Oddly, you felt sorry for the poor creature, you weren't even sure what he did to deserve this. You were staring out into the direction of the tree as you were getting water from the well.

"What's on your mind?" Your best friend, Jane, asks you. "Thinking about the vampire they found last night?"

"Yes, actually." You reply.

"You always think of weird stuff," Jane states, you fix your gaze on her.

"I'm just wondering why they're all afraid." You tell her. "He doesn't seem to be a threat."

"It's a vampire, (Y/N)," She remarks. "Of course he's a threat, don't you know what vampires consume to survive?"

"Blood, I know, I was told the stories, too," You answered. "But what if he didn't want to kill us?"

"There is no way he wouldn't," Jane demurred. "That's what vampires do." After taking home the water, you grab a small knife from your father's tool box. The sun was going to set soon, you put on your cape and slipped out into the chilly air, which was unusual weather for Spring. You light a lantern and make your way to the tree where the vampire was held, it was already dark by the time you made it to the crooked, decade-old tree. The vampire was no longer in snake form, instead, he was hanging to the tree by his feet in his human form. You walk closer to him, he sees you in front of him, but he doesn't react. You pull out the knife, you saw him twitch a little as you got one step closer.
