Japan, May 14, 1802

You smelled the salty ocean air hit your nose as you stepped foot off of The Camellia, the boat that brought you to Japan. You are (Y/N) (L/N), an explorer who has made it your goal to sail around the world, learning of different cultures. It was the last thing you promised your father when he was on his deathbed, The Camellia was his ship, which he gave to you in his will.

You gallivanted around the port, not looking for anything in particular, just wanting to go on an adventure or to find something interesting to do. You began to wander, you walked so far you weren't even at the dock anymore. You were at the edge of the woods, looking out into an un-ending wall of trees and plants. Having no fear of the consequences, you walk straight into the woods, unafraid and determined to explore. You walked around the woods, using a compass to guide you around the unfamiliar environment. But, as much as you didn't want to admit it, you got lost... Very Lost.

Which way did I come in again? You pondered as you continuously walked in a circle to try and remember which direction you came from. You heard a rustle in the bushes, you turn your attention over to the sound. A fox with inky-black fur and white markings revealed itself from the brush, it sat down on the plush grass and began to examine you. You do the same, you've seen foxes before, but they never got this close to you. But, the fox scurried away back into the bush as soon as you took one step closer. You resumed trying to find your way back to the docks, the needle of the compass pointing in the direction go. Because you were looking down at the compass, you weren't looking where you going and bumped into something. You dropped the navigational device, you looked up at what- or, rather who you bumped into. The stranger was a man with dark hair that was past his chin and sickly-looking pale skin, he wore traditional Japanese clothing, so you assumed he was a citizen. And if he was a citizen, he would know where to go.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" You apologized as he remains silent.

"It's alright," The stranger assures you.

"I'm afraid I'm lost," You explain. "I'm not a native, so I don't know where I am exactly. Do you know where the docks are?" He took a moment to contemplate a way to get to the docks from their current location.

"... Go East from here, take a left at the statue, and continue until you see the docks." He instructed. "If you don't mind me asking, are you the explorer that came here from (Your Country)?"

"Uh, yes," You answered, awkwardly.

"You must have seen many interesting things, have you not?" He asks.

"I have," You told. "The world is filled with many wonders, and I plan on seeing them all!" The man blinked, he raised an eyebrow.

"Is that so?" He continued. "How many 'wonders' have you seen so far?"

"Five," You said, proud of your accomplishments. "But my journey's only beginning!" The man cracked a smile, he had oddly canine-like teeth, you tried not to stare and pushed it to the back of your mind.

"I'd love to hear about that, but..." He spoke, sounding somewhat sarcastic. "Shouldn't you be getting to the docks?"

"Oh! Yes, I should!" You realized, you turned to walk to the docks, but you looked back in the stranger's direction. "Hey, what's your name?"

"... My name...?" He paused, as if he was trying to remember his own name. "It's Tsubaki."

"I'm (Y/N) (L/N)," You named yourself, waving good bye to your acquaintance. "I hope we meet again! Goodbye!"

You spent three days in Japan, and you already love it here. There is so much to learn about this country, yet so little time to learn. You learned some Japanese words and their meanings, customs, traditions, and many other things about this beautiful country. But you could only stay for four months, so you decided to not waste precious time.
