You have been in a coven of witches since you were born, you have always lived in isolation in an old, musty mansion. Because your family were witches, they always wanted to find more ways to use magic through philosophy and experiments. Your family's unkillable curiosity would be the death of many vampires, the most common test subject brought home by your relatives. On some nights when you were a child, you would hear chanting, screaming and then silence. You thought that if you stood up to your mother, the head witch, she would hate you and turn your family against you. She would beat you or your sisters if you ever tried to rebel against her, causing you to be scared of her and her abilities. But, that night, you decided to silently revolt.
One of your sisters, Victoria, had brought home a vampire for the experiments. Your grandmother was proud of Victoria for bringing another guinea pig to use, she was always the favorite. You knew what would happen if they tried to use the spell on him, so you chose to save him.
When the house was silent and everyone was under the spell of sleep, you crept out of your room. You looked around to see no one in the hallway, and sighed with relief as you walked into the dark hallway. You tiptoed past your sister's room, your mother's room, then the other witches rooms.
You opened the door to the basement and walked down the stairs to the dungeon where the test subjects were kept. You finally got to his cell and smiled, the moonlight was visible through the barred window, you could see his face. The boy looked like he was sixteen, which was about your age, his wild green hair matched his ruby-red eyes. He was sitting cross-legged in the back of the cell.
"What do you want?" he growled, he said it loud enough for it to slightly echo. You paniced, thinking somebody would come down here, you put a finger to your lips, signaling for him to be quiet.
"I'm going to get you out of here," You whispered as you pulled out the keys to the cell which you stole from your mother.
"How do I know you're not going to kill me?" He questioned. "How do I know you're not lying? You're one of them."
"Just because they're my family, doesn't mean I agree with their barbaric ways of learning magic," You answered in a hushed voice as the door opened ajar. "You just have to give me the benefit of the doubt, okay?"
The green haired boy narrowed his eyes at you and raised an eyebrow as he studied you intently to tell if you were lying, he then got up and walked casually out of the cell. He turned to you, his ruby eyes flashing with disgust. "I hate liars," he snarled. "If I find your lying, I will not hesitate to protect myself from your witchy-voodoo-magic."
"'Witchy-voodoo-magic'?" You repeated, smirking. "Wow... Just wow..."
"Whatever," He spat. "Just get me outta' here, 'kay, Little Miss Witch?" You rolled your eyes at the nickname as you lead him up the stairs and out of the dungeon to the main hall, where you tell him to be really quiet as to not wake the other sleeping witches. But as he walked beside you, you could catch a glimpse of him looking at you, but he would quickly look away.
"Hey, witch girl." He pestered.
"My name is (Y/N)."
"(Y/N)," The vampire said. "How'd you get those bruises and cut marks?"
You didn't answer his question for a few moments, which was enough of an answer for him. "... You don't have-"
"I tried to convince them to let you go," You replied. "My mother didn't take to kindly to that."
"But why?"
"I didn't think you deserved to die for my family's experiments... Like all the others, but I didn't speak up... So, I decided today would be the first time I would help them."
"Why didn't anyone else protect you?" He asked.
"Once, my sister, Eleanor, tried to stop our mother from hurting me and our sisters..." you told. "Eleanor was almost killed and then she was thrown out... I haven't seen her since. And ever since then, everyone has been sacred of my mother, and basically replaced her by making my sister Victoria her favorite.
You and the vampire stayed silent until you reached the front door, you opened and lead him to the clearing where no one could see you. "This is as far as I can go," You tell him. "Have fun beeing a freeman, vampire boy."
"Sakuya." He said. "My name is Sakuya Watanuki."
"Well, Sakuya," You smiled. "Have a blast being free." You turned around to leave, the yellow grass crunching under you foot steps, but you felt someone take your hand.
"Hey, (Y/N)," He stated. "You wanna' come with me?"
"What?" You answered. "I can't."
"Why?"
"My sister-"
"I think she'll find a way out on her own," He reassured you. "And if she hadn't left already with a mother like yours, she obviously wants to stay the favorite child. So what's your answer? Don't leave me hangin' here, (Y/N)."
You thought about it for a minute, what would happen if you leave? Would your mother coe look for you? Would she even care? There was a chance this opprotunity would never come again in your lifetime ever again. So, you took his hand and smiled brightly as the skin turned a lavender purple as the sun started to rise.
"Yes." You answered. Sakuya smiled brightly as you ran away from the house quickly so you wouldn't have to run away from angry witches. As the coven mansion faded out of view as you two ran, you left behind your years of the melancholy child you had spent there.
