After Math

Stuck in the after math of a war you can't win
Not even sinning, you've done nothing
Giving up feels like your only option
Sell all your feelings, you're a numb nation

But maybe one day you'll get back on your feet
And it'll be your name the people'll preach
But it will be difficult for you
So tie all the ends through

Do I like the bruising?
No, but to you, my screams must sound like singing
And what about the verbal abuse then?
All the lies I truly believe in

And then I'm just sitting there
In the streets, lying in fear
Trying to fight, to learn what I'm best at
Getting hit with the verbal bat

But I will rise, and when I do
You'll be on the bottom of my academic shoe
Trying to find your new pace
And now you're in my old place
