Screams of agony filled the air as Serenity ran through the small village her heart was racing as she searched for Xavier. Smoke was hanging in the air like a noose, trapping in her lungs until her eyes watered from it. The burning buildings soon began to fall as she ran through the panicking people her hands fisted into her skirts as she tried to find her mate. "Xavier?" her voice was chocked with each word she spoke, not knowing where to look until she saw him fully fledged in battle. His back was split open and bleeding. She ran to him her heart pounding with each grueling step she took, moving over the burning bodies the smell gagging her. She needed to get away, they all needed to run before they were spotted. Xavier grunted slamming his sword through his opponents throat his head detaching from his shoulder blades falling uselessly to the floor. Xavier turned his dark eyes meeting hers, "What are you doing here? Avalon and Juliette were supposed to get you out of her."
"I wasn't going to leave you to fight my battles for me. I did this they are here for me. I knew the rules and I put the entire village in danger and I need to meet out this punishment not only for me but for you. You need to leave Xavier and promise me something," Xavier grabbed Serenity's face his hands tender upon her as if she were a fragile flower. "Anything," Serenity pressed her hand to his chest his heart beat moving through her body like a drug, she was on a high for this man and this man only and she knew that it would be another century before she saw him again and knew that he'd be there but only time would tell. "Promise me you'll find me again? Promise me that you'll love me as much as you do today as when I am reborn into a human?" Xavier swallowed hard pressing his forehead to hers his scent and warm wrapped around her like a final goodbye, she knew what must happen and knew that whatever happened upon this night it would change their lives and the fate of the world forever. "I promise." Xavier pressed a soft kiss to her lips before moving away whispering against her hair his arms going around her body as a final embrace. "I'll find you again Serenity." It was a dark promise he intended to keep and he would no matter what it took or who he had to hurt to find her again. She was his mate and the moment she moved away from him her head held high he knew that whatever happened this night it'll only get worse and war would be the outcome because no matter what war will happen and he will find his mate again or die trying to.
