Chapter 20

        To break the bond you must mate with her. But I'd do it before the bond becomes any stronger and it is impossible for Draco's hold on her to break. The words played over and over in Xavier's head as he paced the living room not glancing at Serenity as she sat silently on the couch her knees pulled to her chest. "So you have to mate with someone else to break the bond?" Jules was asking walking into the room handing Serenity a steaming cup. "Yes because then her soul binds with the person she mates with. I just don't understand why you'd give Draco to bind with you." Athena said sitting close to Alister so she knew where she was. "What do you mean she gave permission for Draco to bind with her?" Xavier demanded turning to Athena. "I didn't give him permission, I didn't even know about any of these up until a few weeks ago." Serenity said panic setting in her voice. "You did. When you were with the human, Grayson I think his name was." Serenity swallowed hard, what did Grayson have anything to do with Draco, she only just learned about him so there was no possible way for him to know about the person responsible for all the shit that was happening to her. Right?

            "Yes Grayson, he has been dead for years, Draco took his form and him and Serenity completed the bond a while back. But since Draco isn't her true mate the bond can be broken but it needs to be soon because the longer you wait the stronger the bond and Draco is using it to track her. His power in the mortal realm is weakening him. So the sooner the bond is broke the easier it is to defeat him." Athena explained as if she hadn't a care in the world. Not only did she tell her that her boyfriend has been dead for years, but that he was replaced with a crazy immortal who has been sucking out her powers from her and binding with her without her knowledge. And now she has to mate with Xavier to break that bond before it's too late.

            This was going to be a long night. Serenity thought to herself as her eyes connected with Xavier's. They both knew what had to happen but Serenity didn't know if she wanted to be bonded to him. Though Athena gave her back her memories, Serenity still felt as if she didn't know him. But she knew that it was only a matter of time before Draco found them again, this time it might not end well for them and Serenity couldn't live with herself if she caused anyone's pain or if they were harmed because of her. "Okay. I'll break Draco's bond." Serenity said staring directly at Xavier, he sucked in a sharp breath nodding in her direction agreeing with her. Yes it most definitely will be a long night. Serenity thought again.
