Sirens, flashing lights, and broken car pieces surrounding my body was all I saw through my blurred vision. As I began to blink my eyes fully open, I noticed a nurse leaning over me, asking me where I was hurt and tapping my shoulders gently. Rather than replying, I searched the rest of the parking lot to hopefully catch sight of my beloved wife. There was a crowd of officers, plenty of ambulances, but no sight of Dani.

"Where is she?" I mumbled, beginning to panic. Even in my dazed state, the only thing I was worried about was her. What if she was severely injured, screaming for someone to make the pain stop? What if she was crying for me and I wasn't there for her? I began trying to move, but the nurse and a few other officers were holding me down, restricting my movement and my chance at finding Danielle.

"Sir, please relax. You shouldn't be moving too much." The nurse stated, and I looked up at her with a pleading look. How could they withhold me from finding my wife? Did they not sense my ever-growing love for her?

"Where is she?" I asked again, this time more demanding.

"She is being taken to the hospital. Are you hurt anywhere?" Even if I had lost a limb, it wouldn't have mattered at this moment; find Danielle was all I could begin to think about.

"No, I'm fine. Please take me to her. I need to make sure she's okay." I begged, attempting to squirm out of their grasps once again, but with no prevail.

"Okay, okay, we are going to help you up. Just calm down." The nurse gripped my arm, along with the officers, and carefully lifted me up. It took my moments to register the entirety of the scene before me; my car was upside down, completely demolished on Dani's side, and a black truck had taken some damage to the front as well. There were strangers, staring in awe at the awful accident that had taken place and officers were attempting to get witness testimonies out of some. Except, no one really cared to answer them, because all their eyes were on me now, as I attempted to stand.

At first, my legs were weak against the rough pavement and I was unable to move without wobbling. Then, I remembered Danielle was alone, probably terrified, and she needed me. I used all my remaining strength to hobble towards the ambulance; I'm coming, Dani, I promise.

I stared down at her pale, basically lifeless body. Her perfectly curled hair was now tangled, and distraught in all directions, dried blood staining her head grotesquely. Her elegant red dress was torn, pieces of fabric ripped apart to expose her bare skin that was now covered in scrapes. And her makeup, that definitely took her hours to complete, was ruined, and now, smearing down her cheeks. Even in this state though, she was still the beautiful girl I remember.

My eyes traced down to her hands that were soaked in blood. The diamond ring that was once shiny and new, now had a rusty appeal to it.

It's insane to think that one minute we were just celebrating our engagement and the next, she is lying on a hospital bed with monitors all hooked up to her body. It just goes to show that it only takes one second for your entire life to fall into shambles.

Suddenly, her fingers twitched and a surge of relief swept through me. She was finally waking up.

I gripped her hand tightly to let her know I was here.

"Nurse!" I yelled, happily. A male doctor rushed into the room, and turned pale when he saw me.

"What are you doing in here? You can't be in here." He said, grabbing my arm and dragging me out of the room. Before I could even protest, my fingers were slowly separated from hers, as I was escorted away.
