Everything Happens for a Reason- A Jemi Love Story

Joe is sat on a bench in the changing room carefully and slowly getting ready for today's game. He's deep in thought blocking out his fellow players who are getting hyped for later on today but Joe he gets ready by thinking to himself. He likes to think he's different from all of them and that he is a good captain, he's captain of the team who won the championship last year in which he hopes to follow on this year. His attention moves to the TV which sounded quiet to him until now. He stands up eyes not leaving the screen except the split second his shirt falls down his torso after his head and arms going in the holes.

"Shocking news! Demi Lovato was trampled by a riot of her fans trying to get at her earlier, she is currently in hospital getting treated for a broken wrist and various cuts and bruises. Nobody knew what made the fans act like this, they say it's the rumours of her engagement to boyfriend of a couple of years Wilmer but we'll never know." The news reporter reports trying to keep hair from blowing in her face. Joe shakes his head in disappointment, he knows if that was to happen to him he would sue whoever his security team was during that time. That brings back memories though of high school, he was a fan of her and her music until everything turned downhill for her, he's still a fan now but he's gone past the obsession stage.

"You okay Joe?" Couch asks and Joe nods. "You're always quiet before a game." He states helping him strap on his shoulder pads.

"It just relaxes me I guess, I don't want to lose this championship." He admits.

"I'll be proud whatever happens and I know your son or daughter will when they finally make an appearance." He encourages and a wide smile can't help but appear over Joe's face at the thought of being a dad very soon. Joe has been with Scarlett all the way through high school practically and knew she was the one even back then, they announced they would be getting married about this time last year not long later announcing they would be having a baby together. It wasn't planned though feels just the right time for them to become parents. It's been a long 9 months for him just wanting to know whether he will be having a son or daughter, they decided against finding out knowing that it will be more special when they arrive and they know in the moment. Joe is hoping for a girl since he mom never got one. It will be nice for him to be the one to give her a Granddaughter to spoil.

"I know they will and they should hurry up because I'm getting impatient." Joe stresses and he laughs.

Joe wonders onto the field his helmet securely in his right side his arm keeping it from falling. Joe smiles when he see his fiancé waddle into his sight. He passes Andrew his helmet before rushing over giving her a big hug or the best he can without his child getting in the way, it reliefs him that she is big knowing his child will be big and  healthy when he or she arrives. Scarlet laughs hugging him back before he pulls away pecking her lips.

"I'm not staying, I'm off to the spa with the girls for a treat so they say but good luck." She says looking up at him.

"I don't need no good luck," He says making her laugh. "Thanks and have fun." He says leaning down pressing his lips gently on hers, she kisses back pulling away a couple of moments later feeling eyes burn on her back. She knows that many girls would like the chance of being with the country's best footballs player but he didn't pick them, he picked her.

"Don't react to them." He whispers in her ear knowing exactly why she pulled away, they've been through the conversation before. He kisses her one last time before exits the area to go out with her friends for a well needed relaxing session. Joe rushes over to Andrew grabbing his helmet before putting it of his head. He can't deny the pain in the bottom of his stomach as if something will happen during the game, he just has a bad feeling.
