Episode 44

Can you die from toothache? :(

That moment Joe's whole world comes crashing down around him just at the thought of his six month old daughter having cancer. He had already lost his soon to be wife to the battle but he doesn't think he could ever get over losing his only daughter. She is his whole world and if she were to leave him he'd have no idea how he would react or even live.

"W-What?" Joe stutters tears welling up in his eyes threatening to fall.

"Well Scarlett was pregnant when she was pregnant, Sadie may have caught it from her." Molly explains it making perfect sense to Joe. He can't take anymore, he has to leave but he doesn't want to be rude about it.

"May I leave?" Joe chokes and Molly nods her head.

"If you want to see me again book an appointment with my receptionist, hope you feel better soon." She states and with that Joe was off. He opens the door rushing back reception and Demi knowing that she will follow him, he'd only been in there for a couple of minutes so he knows she will be wondering why. Joe rushes down the stairs two at a time Demi not being able to do that so he zooms ahead waiting for her in his car once he gets there. He pulls off as soon she's in and strapped in allowing the tears to fall down his cheeks landing in a big heap on the steering wheel.

"Joe what's wrong? Are you okay to drive." Demi states a worried expression on her face.

"S-Sadie might have cancer." Joe babbled turning Demi into shock slightly staying quiet now out of pure worry.

Joe pulls up at his mom's house climbing out the car not bothering to turn the engine off before rushing up the pathway into the house and into the living room. He walks over to Sadie bringing her up into his arms before rushing out not saying another word to his mom or his two brothers that were there watching TV. They just turn to each other puzzled watching Joe as he leaves the premises with his daughter not even taking her stuff with her.

"Joe calm down, she'll be fine." Demi assures wanting to take hold of his hand but can't because he needs it for driving.

"What if she isn't," Joe snaps making Demi flinch slightly, Joe sighs holding his hand up. "Sorry." He mumbles Demi nodding slightly.

"It's okay but you need to calm down, if there is anything wrong we I'll help you get through it." She explains Joe un-tensing in attempt to calm down just a little bit as he makes his way over to the hospital Demi knowing where he is going.

Joe closes his eyes not wanting to see the needle go into his daughter's arm or hear the screams she is making from the pain. Demi squeezes his hand tighter trying to comfort him. She is trying her best to stay calm and strong for Joe, she knows how tough it must be for him. She won't even try and be in his shoes because she doesn't know how she would react if she found out her son growing inside of her has cancer.

"We'll just have to wait for the results now." The nurse says laying Sadie gently in Joe's arms making her instantly calm down curling into her father's lower stomach.

"How long will they take?" Demi questions knowing that's a answer Joe would want.

"A couple of minutes, has she shown any symptoms of anything?" She questions.

"She's been crying a lot, I only put that down to teething though." He admits making himself wonder whether it was something else.

"She is the right age." She states and Joe nods. They begin waiting in silence for the nurse to get the email to let him know the truth or not. Demi is because more and more protective over her little boy not wanting to go through any of what Joe is going through, all she can do at the moment is be there for him. Joe and Demi just slightly when they hear a ping indicating a email come.
