The doctor leaves the room after giving him the news and a drink of water but Joe doesn't drink it, just breaks down crying. Soon enough he sees his mother rush in giving him a hug trying to shush him but it's not good, he won't be able to play again and he missed the birth of his son or daughter. How could the news have gotten any worse? Denise holds her son against her chest in hope to calm him down a bit but she doesn't blame him for being upset, she also knew how much he enjoyed playing the sport but deep down she always knew something wrong would happen for his dream to end.

"Everything will be alright baby boy." She whispers in her ear on the verge of crying too. She feels him beginning to cry more, she doesn't know what else to do but hug him tighter. It takes a while for Joe to calm down but he does his eyes raw red and nose runny. Nick and Kevin walk in with a packet of tissues passing him them, he takes one wiping his face.

"You okay now after a good cry?" Kevin asks and Joe shrugs laying his head down on the pillow  closing his eyes.

"Don't you want to go see Scarlett?" Nick questions.

"Yeah there's someone that wants to meet you." Kevin encourages.

"Am I allowed?" He asks his mom and she nods.

"Just be careful on that knee." She lectures and Joe nods back allowing them to help him up onto his feet on onto the crutches left for him. Kevin and Nick lead him through the corridors while their mom gets a well needed coffee from the cafeteria. "Have you seen them yet?" Joe questions not wanting to be the only person who hasn't seen his child yet.

"Mom has but we said we'd wait and until after you've seen them." Nick explains trying not to give away the gender of the baby. He should know once he's seen them not because his brothers have told him. They carry on making their way through the halls in silence Joe just still a little bit upset but hoping once he meets his son or daughter he will cheer up a little bit more. They reach the maternity ward Joe not helping but smile when he hears babies crying knowing they could well be his child but hopefully they are sleeping so they can give Scarlett some rest after having to give birth. Joe finds himself outside a door turning to Nick and Kevin.

"You go in meet them then let us know when we can," Kevin says shushing Joe when he said but. "Go Joseph." He lectures and Joe chuckles a bit before limping through the door on his crutches which Nick held open until he was in letting it close behind him. Joe's eyes wonder over to his fiancé who is sleeping peacefully on the bed, his eyes make their way over to his stomach which is now flat. He doesn't know whether to be happy that his child is here or sad because he missed it. His eyes carry on wondering until they land on a crib next to the bed. He doesn't stop staring at it until he reaches it his eyes landing on a baby his baby. He smiles when he sees them awake but content, he smiles wider when he sees their dressed in pink hopefully meaning his has a daughter, that or he will be finding new clothes to dress his son in. The main thing that gave it away was the balloon attached to the side  screaming out 'It's a girl' at him. He reaches down in the crib his hands securely under her body, he lifts her up bring her up so her side is against his chest as he sits down on the couch close by.

"You kept me waiting baby girl." He mumbles kissing her head softly as she curls up into his chest knowing she is with her father, Joe smiles as she closes her eyes. She was due 2 weeks ago but Joe didn't mind too much, meant she wanted to stay with her mother for that little bit longer. Joe sits there for a while just watching his daughter sleep in his arms not moving his glance until he hears his name. Joe smiles seeing Scarlett awake, he stands up placing his daughter in the crib again carefully before giving her a hug.

"I'm sorry I weren't here." He mumbles taking in her scent.

"It's fine, are you okay?" She question and he sighs pulling away.

"I ache everywhere, I just don't know what to do anymore." He admits.

"We'll find something, I promise." Joe smiles as gives her a passionate kiss.
