Chapter 53

-JAMIE'S P.O.V-

    Take a deep breath.
"Why are you more nervous than I am?"
"Because I'm afraid you'll hate me after."
"I won't hate you. Don't be ridiculous, Koala."
"Lynn James and Jamie James."
    Lynn takes my hand and we walk back with the woman. She leads us into a room. The table with... oh god.. oh jesus.. oh fuck...
"Breathe, J."
"I can't."
"Babe. We already picked someone. We already have everything set. It's me sitting on this table... not you."
"What if you hate me after?"
"I won't."
"What of you try and kill me during the pregnancy?"
"I might. I might not."
"LY."
    She pulls me to her. Her lips take mine in a short quick kiss. Once parted the doctor walks in.
"Alright, let's get one thing out of the way. I am gay. And I'm your doctor." He says.
    We laugh. It is comforting to know..
"Now. Let's get down to it, Ladies."
    He goes through our information list. Asking us to confirm things.
"Can I ask what you're going to name your baby?" He smiles as he gets everything ready.
"Alex." Lynn answers.
    I watching him take out everything. Which sounds weird...... it's not. I'm worried.
    Lynn's hand lightly squeezes in mine.
"It's just a quick thing, loves. I recommend you keep from strenuous activity after. You may feel cramping during but I assure you, we can all get through this." He smiles. He hands me a blanket for Lynn's lower half and leaves.
    Lynn takes off her bottoms and panties and hands them to me, taking the blanket in trade.
"Are you not nervous?"
"Well, yes? How can I not be nervous? And my even more nervous wife isn't helping me."
"I'm sorrrryy." I pout.
    She pulls me back to her and her lips claim mine. I love her kisses.
"We'll be okay." She says as the kiss parts.
   The doctor walks in. My heart races quicker and quicker. Pounding so damn hard against my chest...
"Let's get this started, shall we?"
    Lynn close her eyes, I lay my head on her shoulder and she nuzzles her face in my neck.
"May feel discomfort, Mrs. James."
    Her hand squeezes in mine and I hear her whimper to me.
"I'm sorry, Ly...."
    Her lips press to my neck, though I feel her tears fall.
"Please forgive me." I whisper.
"Stop. I love you, Koala. It's alright."
"Almost done." His voice is soft.
    After a few minutes Lynn's hand loosens in mine.
"All done, Mrs. James."
    Lynn sighs. She pulls away from me and cups my cheeks. "Look at me, J."
    I open my eyes and she smiles. "I'm okay. We're good, love."
"Other patients of mine go through this too. You will make it through this. You did good, Mrs. James. Both of you." He does a 'ahem'. "Now, loves. I would wait to check. You won't really get an results until soonest as a week or 2."
    Lynn thanks him. He walks out and Lynn gets herself dressed again. I wrap my arms around her and bury my face in her chest. She holds me close. A knock at the door and the nurse comes in.
    She hands us everything we need to know. The information regarding how things might happen. The side effects.
    We leave, her hand stays in mine the whole way home. The second we're in the house. It's like... the world.. changed..
"So that just happened."
"I think so, Ly."
    Her arms wrap around me. "I love you, Koala."
"Did it..hu"
"For only a second. But my wife was by my side, everything is always better when you're with me."
   I lean up and kiss her cheek.
"So. When we know. Your sister should know first. Question is how?"
"I don't know."
"Yeah, well I'd much rather not have another death threat if I go all hormonal during."
"That was a funny threat."
"It was not. I was terrified."
"Mhm."
   In a seconds notice I pick her up and carry her up the stairs.
"This isn't normal."
"Since when have we been normal, Ly?"
"Never."
"Exactly. Now. Wife's orders for rest."
"But J.."
"We can watch movies."
"You won't let me do anything for the rest of the day will you?"
"Nope. Nor tomorrow. Maybe even Sunday."
"We have to go to your mom's."
"Nope. She has to work."
"We have to spend time with dad."
"He went out of state today. Won't be back until Monday. Stop looking for excuses to not get rest."
"What if I want love?"
    I laugh and sit her on the bed.
"I'm serious."
"So am I."
"Jamie. I'm serious. What if I want you?"
    I roll my eyes at her idiocy.
"Hey. No. No. Don't roll your eyes at me. I'm being serious."
"We'll work it out later. Not tonight."
"Fiiiiinnneee." She whines. She climbs up more on the bed and sighs.
    I lean over and kiss her cheek before grabbing everything we need. I make sure I grab her extra water and stuff. Maybe I'm going over board.
"You are."
"Maybe. But can you blame me? When we do this with Tim, you know you're probably going to be worse than I am right now."
"Damn right. Everything about the unknown, when it comes to you, scares me. You're a strong woman, you just scare me when it comes to your medical."
    I nod. "Anyway. What movie do you want to watch?"
"Could always go for Harry Potter."
"I be pillow?" I offer.
"Mhm." She smiles widely to me and nods.
    I put on our movie and she gets out of bed. We strip down... but not fully... not like usual. She climbs on my back as soon as lay down.
    I hum to her warmth as she slides her hands under my stomach. Like miniature heating pads in a way. It feels so amazing. Being in her arms is always amazing.
"Penelope. Come lay with momma and I." She calls our pup.
   Well... She's no longer a puppy.. but still. Penelope jumps in the bed and curls close us. We watch the movie in silence. But I know she's growing tired.
"You can sleep..."
"Mhm. But don't want to."
"I don't want you in any extra stress or anything, Ly."
"I'm not. I feel good. I'm happy, love."
"And tired."
"That too." She laughs lightly.
"Ly..." I attempt to coo.
"No."
"Ly.."
"Nn."
"Ly..." I whisper softer.
"I..can't witho"
"I love you, Ly." I whisper out softly.
"I love you too, Koala."
    She is out. I feel her heart beat slow against my skin. And her breath warm against my back. It's beautiful. She's beautiful. And I tell her every day.
    I slowly move and turn the tv volume on mute. It only takes me about a minute until I fall asleep to her. Fall asleep with her.

"Penelope. No." Lynn says.
    The dog whines in my ear.
"Penelope." I groan.
"I'll take care of her."
"No. Roll off. I'll do it."
"I can do things, Jamie."
"Wife's orders."
     She groans but gets off. I instantly miss her warmth. I get up, Penelope gets up and starts running back and forth across the room. I stop at her bowl and she halts, sitting straight and alert.
     As I fill her bowl, she just stares. She always waits until I say. She's a good girl.
"Go get it." She launches for the bowl as I step back.
    I start walking towards the bed and Lynn's eyes locked on mine. I smile and she smiles back. I love her smile.
"How's my baby this morning?"
"I don't know if I'm suppose to feel different?"
"They didn't really go into specifics on that, did they?"
    She shakes her head. "Neither did the papers."
"One step at a time, I guess."
    I climb into bed and lay back on my stomach. She climbs back on me and nuzzles in. Her hands under my stomach again and all warmth in the world has returned.
"I don't hate you. And I'm not mad."
"I know. Just a default feeling that hits me sometimes."
"I know. I get it too."
"What are we doing for Christmas?"
"I'm not sure."
"Ly, it's 3 weeks away."
"Oh. Time flies when you're in love." She laughs lightly. "Maybe if this works, we save it for Christmas?"
"What about Zee? I know the moment we know if you are or not Zee will feel something's up. She's been hounding me a lot lately thinking there is something wrong to begin with."
"I told you we will tell her first."
"And then the families?"
"Yeah."
"Are you sure, Ly?"
"Yeah. I'm sure."
    She yawns. "Can we sleep more?"
"Penelope." She jumps on the bed and curls next to us. Daisy and Zeus climb up and lay with her.
"Yeah, Ly."
    Soon an Alex will be laying with us. Hopefully.
    Her breathing slow. And her heart, I can barely feel on my skin. She's ready.
"Ly.." I coo her.
"Hm?"
"Ly.."
"Can't wi"
"I love you, Ly." I cut her off with a soft whisper.
"I love you too, Jamie."
    I hear her drift off immediately after her words. And soon I fall. I fall to our family that is right here. And the possibility that our Alex is going to be here soon. I fall asleep.
