-LYNN'S P.O.V-

"Babe. Mom. Door."
I groan and climb off of her. I don't even know how long we were sleeping. But it was nice.. And warm.. very comfortable.
I open the door and invite mom in. Jamie gets up and flops down on the couch. I almost want to laugh at her but I don't.
"Hey, Lynn. How are you feeling?"
"Fine."
Jamie's eyes lock with mine.
"Tired." I correct myself.
For a moment she searches my eyes, looking for any ounce of pain. I'm not any right now. I'm just really tired.
"Probably. You think one baby is exhausting. Try twins."
"Fuuuck nooo." Jamie says.
I laugh lightly and dig my way into her arms. Resting my head against her chest, I watch mom lean over Alex.
"She's looks so much like you, Lynn."
"So I've been told."
Jamie leans in and kisses my forehead. I smile to her. God I love this woman.
"Do you mind if I hold her?"
"She needs to eat anyway, so yeah. But she will cry. She doesn't like being woken from naps."
"Or at all. And she still eats like a piggy."
"Oooh. I wonder who she got that from." Mom looks over at Jamie.
"Not me."
"Why are you blaming me, mom. I didn't do shit." Jamie plays innocent.
"Mhm." Both mom and I say.
Mom picks up Alex and almost immediately she starts crying. Mom hushes her and lightly bounces her in her arms.
"Bottles are made in the fridge, just warm them up."
"You made more bottles? When?"
"While you were getting Alex earlier."
"Oh." She kisses my cheek.
Mom sits down after a minute and begins to feed Alex.
"How have you guys been holding up?"
"Well.. It's hard to sleep without being in each others arms.. but.. we manage some time to sleep together."
"You both need sleep. How does she do with sleep?"
"Alex likes her naps. She loves sleeping. She doesn't cry much. And when she's awake and we're asleep, Penelope comes and gets us." Jamie smiles.
"You basically have 4 baby monitors."
"Yep."
I bury myself in her chest and feel myself grow tired again. I miss her holding me while we sleep. I miss holding her while we sleep. But she won't let me be her pillow.
She's afraid she will hurt me, and I know why. I'm doing okay. I'm healing. I'm just sad because I miss her in so many ways.
We have Alex now. We have what we've dreamed of. We have our beautiful babygirl. And we're excited.
After a few minutes, I hear mom laugh as she burps Alex.
"Doesn't take her very long, does it?"
"Literally a minute." I mumble against Jamie.
"Do you guy want me to take her for the night?"
A giant pain hits against my chest. I'm not ready for anyone to take her? Even for a night... I'm not ready..
"I don't think that's a good idea, mom. It's too soon. Plus if Lynn or I don't hold her within a certain period of time, she won't stop crying."
Jamie isn't lying... But she also is at the same time. She's not ready for anyone to take her yet either. I'm thankful for her.
"Or you just aren't ready for someone to babysit her without you yet." Mom says.
"Yeah... that." Jamie and I say at the same time.
"I get it. No worries."
Mom gets up and starts pacing to put Alex back to sleep. I can hear her and know Jamie is watching her. It's like I'm watching though Jamie when I'm really just laying limp in her arms.
"We haven't crashed and burned yet, mom." I mumble against Jamie.
"You look pretty crashed to me."
I slightly lean up. "No. Koala is warm and I is cold. Koala be blanket and pillow forever and always."
She and Jamie laugh lightly. Jamie kisses my forehead. I rest my head back down on her chest.
Mom puts Alex back in her crib and immediately the animals surround her. She is a very well guarded baby and I'm sure even my mom and her dad are watching over her too. I hope so, anyway.
"I guess I will leave you guys. You obviously don't need me."
"We're trying not to need any help, really. Koala is a good momma."
"Technically she's the father." Mom laughs lightly.
"No offense, mom. No offense, Jamie. But if she was a guy, I wouldn't even touch her. I can't even think about that." I shudder in a cringe.
"Baaaaabe nooooo. I'd be a good husband. I'd be a good daddy."
I lightly nudge her and laugh.
"Shut the fuck up, J."
Mom laughs at us.
"You two are a bunch of idiots."
"I told you. I called it. I fucking told you, Ly."
"What am I missing?" Mom asks.
"Jamie said that 'we're just a bunch of married idiots and a baby.'"
"Except I was joking and she wasn't." Mom said.
"Exactly."
"I was joking. Sort of. Kind of. Maybe... not."
I laugh lightly at her. She's a pain in the ass sometimes.
"Alright. Well, I will see you guys later." She says and kisses both of our foreheads before leaving.
As soon as I hear her car door close, I speak.
"Thank you."
"For what?" I look up and see pure confusion resting in her eyes.
"Saying she shouldn't take Alex. I don't know why but it hurt the idea of her not being near us."
"I know, Ly. It hurt me too."
"Why don't we head up to bed? Alex doesn't feed until morning and I think sleep would do us both good."
"Sleeping with you always is better than alone."
Something in her eyes show fear. Fear I haven't seen in a long time. Fear I never wanted to see again.
"J.."
She shakes her head and sighs. "I'm okay, Ly. I'm alright."
I don't believe her and the color of her eyes change to a darker blue. She's lying to me. She sighs again.
"I still can't sleep well without you. I rest maybe an hour.."
I sigh and get up and put out the fire.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Jamie grab Alex. Alex stirs but doesn't fuss. Jamie heads upstairs and all but Penelope follows.
For a moment, she waits for me. And I follow her when I'm done.
Penelope branches off into Alex's room. Jamie puts Alex in her crib and walks out, a few steps behind me. As we get to the bed, Jamie flops down.
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be. I know it's the same for you."
"Yeah."
"We can work out a schedule. I don't want to sleep without you anymore."
"I don't want to sleep without you either."
I climb on her back and slide my hands beneath her, I squeeze lightly.
"I won't sleep without you and you won't without me. We will figure this out."
Lightly kissing her shoulder a few time. "I love you more than you could ever imagine, Koala."
"I still love you more."
"I'm working on that."
She laughs lightly. I love her laughs. I love everything about her.
"Will you Marry me?"
"I already am married. And we have a very beautiful baby together."
"Lucky woman."
She laughs at me again. "No, I'm the lucky one."
I lightly squeeze her again. I can't protest because I know I won't win in this fight.
"You bet your ass you won't."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know."
The sound of her heart beating in my ear, mixed with the feeling of her even breaths is a melody I start falling to.
"I love you so much, Lynndsie."
"I love you too, Koala."
My heart syncs with hers and we both fall asleep together. I miss this woman. In every way. I miss her.
I love her so much. Maybe too much. She will be the death of me.

Penelope licks across my cheek, waking me up instantly...
"Jamie. Brush the dogs teeth. Jesus have mercy on her breath."
Jamie laughs from under me. I get up and help her up. Her stomach growls loudly and I notice her face turning a light shade of red.
"Hungry?"
She nods.
"Do you want to order or cook?"
"Order. We need to go to the store."
"Riiight. Yeah... that..."
She laughs at me and stands up slightly to kiss my cheek. I like being taller than her. I still find it extremely cute how she has to stand on her tippy toes to kiss me.
Penelope whimpers.
"We're going."
I walk out, Jamie on heel.
"You order and I'll get Alex?"
"Sure, babe."
I go into Alex's room and pick her up. We're nearing a month and it's almost insane how big she's gotten. It was almost like yesterday.
The pain was worth it though. Cause now I have this, this little bundle of joy. Who needs her diaper changed.
"That's why you woke up so early is cause you went poo?"
She hasn't learned to smile yet. But they say within the second month, she should. I can't wait. We already have a bunch of picture of her in her scrapbook.
After I'm done changing her, I swaddle her. She is like Jamie in so many ways. Like when Jamie would wear my hoodies, she would nuzzle in them like she were a cat getting cozy in blanlets. Alex does that when we swaddle her.
I'm proud that she's like Jamie. It's weird how it works... But Jamie is her mother too and apparently has already rubbed off on Alex.
Walking downstairs to a waiting Jamie, who has already ordered and has her bottle ready. I love her so much.
"Diaper?"
"Yep."
She takes Alex from me. "Did you make a stinky?"
I laugh at her. She starts to feed Alex.
"What did you order?"
"Uh. Well. Uh. Hm."
"J."
"Chinese?"
"But we had that last week."
"Well. You're welcome to order pizza."
"I think I will."
She laughs at me. "I'm kidding. I ordered pizza. I didn't want Chinese."
"Asshole."
"Yes, of course." She smirks.
I groan. "Want to watch cartoons like the grown adults we are?"
"Everything on is Christmas."
"Yeah, well... it's better than watching other stupid stuff."
"As long as you burp her?"
Jamie bargains with me as I notice Alex fussing. I sigh. "Yeah."
"Think she might be up for the day."
"Whatever shall we do?" I cover my mouth in a fake gasp.
"Shut the fuck up." She laughs at me.
"Cartoons and cuddling. Sounds wonderful to me."
I take Alex as she's done eating. Preparing myself for the shortest minute of my life.
"Annnnnnnnd" she burps and spit ups.
Jamie shakes her head. She props pillows up and lay down. I lay down with her and hold Alex against me.
She turns the tv on and flops through the channels before deciding on Frosty The Snowman.
"Her first Christmas." Jamie says.
"I'm excited."
"I'm terrified."
"Of?"
"Your fucking cousin."
I laugh at Jamie. "Yeah, I don't think I want her up in Alex's face either."
"Her first Halloween went okay."
"But we stayed inside and handed out candy like a bunch of old people."
"I'm not oollllddd."
"Yeah you are."
"It's a year. And when I turn 21, I'm not buying you fucking drinks."
"Oooo. Mm.. a strawberry daiquiri sounds good."
"Strawberries in general."
"Do we have strawberries?"
"Nope."
"No strawberry milk?"
"Nope."
"Whhhhyyyyy?" I whine.
"Because we're lazy and only live off of bacon and other things instead of going to the store and getting good food."
A moment later the doorbell sounds. I lean up and let Jamie go. I stand up with Alex and lightly bounce her while watching Jamie at the door.
And of course...
