Chapter 55

-JAMIE'S P.O.V-

"We don't need any help right now, Zee."

~     'Are you sure, JJ? I can get you anything you want or need. For both of you. The court's gave me more money to help me ...recover... from you know.'
     No, Zeez. I don't think we need anything right now.

"We've already got her room set up and all the things we think will be needed."
"YOU HAVE HER ROOM DONE?! I need to seeee."
     Lynn looks up to me, I shrug. She gets up and takes my hand. We run upstairs and they are quick on heel.
Lynn opens the door and we all step in. Zee and Rose go in aw.
"It's beautiful. I like the willow on the wall and the way it looks like it's reflecting in water."
"J did that."
     I immediately feel heat rush to my face.

~      'You really are back, aren't you?'
        I think so.
       'I'm glad to have my sister and all her wonderful qualities back.'

      The room goes quiet as she hugs me. Lynn looks at me and smiles. I can't help but smile too.
     Zee pulls from the hug.
"When did all this happen?"
"We've had this all set up for a while now, actually. We started it when we got your gift." Lynn says.
"This is amazing, Jamie. I haven't seen you paint like this in a long time." Rose smiles at me.
"I know. I had a little extra inspiration."
      I grab Lynn's hand and lock fingers with hers. Her thumb runs over my skin lightly and I feel warm inside. My heart flutters in the most silliest of ways. You'd think maybe I'd get use to how she makes me feel? But I haven't.
"Do you think she will be showing at the wedding? Do we need to get a bigger dress?" Rose asks.
"I think I just got called fat."
"I did not call you fat, asshole. I'm asking if there is anything else we can do for your comfort."
"You is not fat." I stand up slightly and kiss her cheek. "You is just holding our daughter."
     Lynn laugh at me and wraps her arms around me.
"I can't wait. I want to meet my niece." Zee says.
"So do I. How did you guys do.. uh.. it?" Rose asks.
"If you're wondering if a guys literal dick was in me, Rose. No."
     I try to hold back my laughter. But of course Zee doesn't.
"Oh."
"Ro, I don't think that's how it works." Zee pats Rose's shoulder, still slightly laughing.
      I shake my head. Well, I didn't see exactly what happened... but still.
Zee leads Rose out of Alex's room and Lynn and I follow. We all plop back down on the couch.
"Are you going to get all the care possible for the baby?"
"We haven't discussed any of that, yet. We found out today that I am." Lynn replies to Zee.
"Oh. Well, I hope you do."

~      'Please do. I want your baby healthy.'

"Babygirl, we've got to go. Mom wants us to talk about wedding stuff."
"Again?"
Rose shows her her phone. Zee groans.

~      'Mom is killing us lately. She and Jack are teaming up to make everything perfect. Everything is perfect.. it's just stressful. Was your wedding stressful?'
      Yes. And no. Everything fell into place. So, watch closely and you'll see.
      'Okay, I guess.'

"Alright. Please keep this a secret for now. We'll tell everyone at Christmas dinner." Lynn says.
"Don't worry about it. Your secret is safe with us." Rose smiles.
       A few moments later they're out the door. I turn to Lynn, who somehow I ended up in the arms of. She smiles.
     I lean down and lightly kiss her belly. She giggles to me. I kiss her belly again before resting on her.
"I have a feeling you'll love her more than you will me."
I look up at her. She smiles.
"Probably."
Her smile grows.
"But no one can ever compare to our love."
"What do you mean?"
"I use to hear mom talking to my dad sometimes. He would say that she loves us more than she loves him. But she went on to say that it's a different kind of love. You being my soulmate and our love here is completely different from our love for our baby. This love is different from the love I feel for Alex. Our love for her is a motherly love. Mom said that there is no bond stronger than that."
"Except for our love."
    I smile and nod. I lightly kiss her stomach again and she giggles. God her giggles make my world shine so much brighter.
"What do you wish to do today?"
"Relax by the warm fire with my wife."
"Any other requests, Ly?"
"Hmm.. Maybe a nap?"
"Yeah. I can do that."
     I climb off of her and get on the floor, closer to the fire. She takes no time to crawl over and lay on me. Penelope lays next to us.
       I watch the fire while listening to her breathing even. And the feel of her heart beat grow slower against my skin. I feel myself falling asleep too.
"Ly..."
"Nn."
"Ly.."
"Can't wi"
"I love you, Ly." I whisper lightly.
"I love you too, Koala." She manages to speak before I know she's fully asleep.
      Not long until sleep takes me too.

"Koala."
"Mm?"
"Jamie.."
I take a deep breath.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Just thought we should move upstairs."
"What time is it?"
"11."
"Are you hungry? Is the baby?"
"No. Just tired."
"I want you to eat, Lynn."
     She sighs and her body heat leaves mine. I get up as she walks off into the kitchen. Making sure the fire is completely out before I walk to the kitchen after her.
Her standing in front of the fridge, just looking is cute. She takes a deep breath and sighs. After a moment of looking she pulls out pudding.
"With substance, Ly."
"Pudding has substance."
     I smile to her and shake my head.
"Oh come on, J. Let me has some pudding."
"You can but maybe eating something with it is better?"
"So. A protein bar?"
"That can work."
"Got it." I smile to her.
     She sits next to me, placing a bar and pudding in front of me.
"Thank you."
"You're very welcome, my dearest wife."
     I hang my head and laugh at her. Mainly hiding my blush by doing so. Her simplest of words make me blush.
"Same with you to me, Koala."
"Do you know Koala isn't actually a bear?"
"I know. Just a figure of speech when people say koala bears. Koala the animal is cute as bears. So...."
"Mhm."
"And now we're going to have a panda bear."
     I laugh at her and kiss her cheek.
"I can't wait."
"I think we sort of have to for another nine months, J."
"Yeah, yeah."
     I get up and throw my trash away. She hands me hers as I make my way back from the trash can. She always does this. Always. Always makes sure I am already done with my things and away from the area before asking me to do something I was just standing there for.
"But you love me."
"Of course I do."
"Can you be pillow?"
"Yeah, Ly. I be pillow."
     She smiles. Her hand takes mine and our fingers lock. She drags me upstairs.
    Once in the bedroom, I run and jump on the bed. I make snowangels in the sheets and she laughs at me like she does every time. When I'm done, I lay down on my stomach and she takes her place.
    Her hands so warm as they dig between me and the mattress. Her body so warm. She's so warm.
I'm going to miss this. Really going to miss it. But it will be worth it, in the end.
"I'll miss it too. But I'll still be holding you in some way."
"Yeah. I hope so. You know I can't sleep properly with you holding me."
"It's the same with me, Koala."
"I know. But my wife is pregnant with our child is needs to be careful of certain things. I will do my best to keep you safe and make sure nothing happens to our baby. I shall protect my Queen and our baby."
She laughs at me. "Of course, Sire."
"You know I love you, Ly?"
"Of course I do."
"More than you could possibly imagine."
"I know, Koala."
"I'm excited."
"Me too. I can't wait to meet our babygirl."
"You know.. I just realised.. We've never had a holiday I wasn't fucked over by medical issues."
"Jamie, it wasn't like that. And I didn't give a shit about any of it unless I got to spend it with you. And I did. Anything can be perfect as long as I have you."
"You're quite funny, Ly."
"I was being serious, asshole."
"I know. But this is different. This year I am me. All me. And I'm happy. Ly, I'm back fully. Zee said it today. I haven't painted since he died. I haven't baked since he died. And now I do those those things again daily and it's because of you."
"I'm glad I can do that for you."
I sigh. "It's so much better now."
"Good. I'm happy too."
"And Alex?"
"I'm sure she's enjoying pudding right now."
I laugh lightly.
"Jamie.." She begins to coo.
"No."
"Koala.."
"Nn." Fucking hypnotism.
"Koala."
"Nn."
"Jamie.."
"I love you, Ly." I barely get out.
"I love you too, Jamie." I faintly hear as I fall away.
