Killing Me Slowly (Lapidot Human AU)

Chapter 9

I was standing at the end of the week meeting, waiting for Lapis to arrive. All of us were standing in a line, and today was the day that we were supposed to finish our missions - I didn't finish mine though. I was sweating bullets and preparing to meet my fate. Lapis all of a sudden yelled out and it snapped me out of my painful trance. "PERIDOT! Did you finish building that drone?" she asked with a cold expression on her face. "I-I-u-uhm.....n-n-no....." I stuttered, starting to tremble. 

The bluenette slowly walked up to me, and stared at me with those icy blue eyes once again. "Why not?" she suddenly asks, in a calm tone of voice. "I-I didn't h-have enough time a-and I f-fell asleep..." I stutter once again, feeling tears filling my eyes. I felt like such a pussy. Lapis raised an eyebrow, and reached into her jacket, and pulled out the same knife that she pulled out yesterday. I heard the whole gang around me gasp in fright. She walked up to me, and I let out a small squeak of terror, staring at the knife.

"Well...I don't need useless people like you, then...and you know what that means..." she mutters, and her eyes are now half-lidded, and she has an evil smirk on her face. I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Before I knew it, she raised her arm up, and jerked it down, sinking her knife into my shoulder - I'm pretty sure she was aiming for my chest, though. Shear pain shot through my whole upper body.

"NYAAAAAAGGSHSHHDHDSHJDUGRGHJKGKBMKB!!!!!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs as I jerked my head up from my desk, a paper stuck to my forehead. I breathed hard for a good five minutes, then my heartbeat finally slowed down. I wiped the sweat from my face with my forearm and looked at my surroundings. I was in my room, the clock read 10:32 AM,and I must've fallen asleep while working on the drone. *Gasp* THE DRONE! I need to finish that ASAP!!! Today is Thursday, and the drone is due on Saturday, so that gives me two days to finish this stupid thing or that nightmare will become reality!

I began to work on the drone once again, ignoring my growling stomach. I worked on the drone non-stop until 4:34 PM, and that's when my hunger was at its peak. I needed food...NOW. I grabbed my leather jacket and threw it on, walking out the door and slamming it behind me. I sped-walked through the hallway, and walked out of the double doors that led to the outside. I noticed that there were two tall guards standing outside. 

They both had blonde undercut-style hair, yellow visors, and huge muscles. They also each seemed to be holding a baseball bat in their big-ass meaty hands. Not gonna lie - they scared the living crap out of me, but I didn't show it. They blocked me from leaving, and I growled in irritation. "What's the big idea?!" I shouted, throwing my arms up. "You cannot leave the building without the boss's permission." One of the guards said. Holy crap I did not expect that high-pitched voice.

"What if the boss did give me permission?" I asked, hoping they couldn't see through my lie. "Well, then we could call the boss right now and ask her, shall we?" The other guard says, smirking. I panicked as the guard on the right began to pull out her cell phone and look for Lapis's number. "W-wait, I-" The first guard held me back, placing her massive palm on my forehead. I tried moving forward, but she just kept moving me back,and it felt like I was back in school, getting pushed back by the average bully.

The muscular woman then held the phone up to her ear, and smirked at me evilly. "Hey boss...I was just calling because I wanted to make sure that this Peridot got your permission to leave the premises...yeah...that's what I thought, heheh. Anyway thanks I.....uh...weird triangle blonde hair, green visor, short...um............m-my apologies, ma'am I.......r-right....b-bye..." The guard ends the call, and her previous evil smirk was replaced with a bright red, embarrassed expression. "What'd she say, Topaz?" However, Topaz said nothing, and moved aside to let me pass. The other Topaz soon took the hint, and let go of my head, and stepped aside as well. 

I brushed myself off, and strutted past them with an evil smirk of my own and a 'hmph'. I then walked across the street and entered a restaurant that had a big sign that read 'The Best Diner in the World'. As soon as I walked in, all of the customers looked at me with fear and quickly walked out. I didn't mean to empty the place, but it felt kinda nice to intimidate people for once. It made me feel....big. I sat down at a table, and a waitress walked up to me, looking a little nervous. "C-can I help you, ma'am?" she asks in a sweet tone of voice. I ordered a large coffee, a double cheeseburger, and three baskets of fries. 

While waiting for the food, I thought for a moment, wait - how did they let me pass if Lapis didn't actually give me permission? However, my thoughts were interrupted as I saw the waitress walk toward me with my food. Of course, I didn't finish all of it due to my small size, but I felt so much better afterwards. I walked out, picking my teeth with a toothpick, and entered the Blue Diamond Authority building, not receiving one look from either of the Topaz guards. 

Now with a full stomach, I was able to concentrate again, and I continued to work on the drone.

I was focusing so hard on the drone, that I didn't even realize the time. I glanced at the clock and it read 11:46 PM. I've been working on this thing for six and a half hours?! I took off my visor and rubbed my eyes for moment, then sat back in my chair, wanting to fall asleep already. I then heard a knock at the door, and I got up off of my chair with a grunt. "cOmiNg.." I grumbled, as I trudged over to the door. I opened it, and there stood that same Pearl that brought me the clothes yesterday. "Miss Lazuli asked me to bring this to you..." she handed me a cellphone,  earbuds, and a charger, and I squealed in joy and took them. 

"Now, we can track this phone, and we can see if you try to contact anyone other than the gang. Unless the boss gave you permission, your phone will be taken away if you attempt to contact anyone other than us, understand?" Pearl explains, giving me a stern look. "Y-yes, yes of course.." I say quickly, and close the door on her face. I heard a heavy sigh, and her light footsteps became quieter and quieter until she was gone. 

I was so happy to have a phone again, and I was devastated when I found out that the gang took mine while I was unconscious. I immediately started to download a shit ton of songs and applications for entertainment, and I scrolled through my contacts to see who I had.

The list went on, and I didn't bother to scroll through all of the contacts. I then realized I was too exhausted and distracted to work on the drone, so I placed my phone on the dresser, and began to change. I took my t-shirt off, leaving me in my sports bra, and took my pants off as well. I put on dark grey sweatpants and flopped onto my bed, taking my phone with me. I put my earbuds in my ears and scrolled through my new songs, and clicked on one. I then closed my eyes, and fell asleep to the sweet sound of Clocks by Coldplay.
