We were back at the building in Lapis's room, and she seemed pretty quiet for the most part. We were just cuddling on the bed watching SpongeBob, and Lapis was holding onto me pretty tight - it kinda concerned me. Killing the Topazes must've really shaken her up, I thought as I held her. "'Patrick, I thought of something funnier than 24.' 'Lemme hear it.' '25' 'PFFFAGHHDGGH'"

There was suddenly a knock at the door. "Come in!" Lapis shouted, not moving from her comfortable position. A Bismuth came in and for a split second I thought it was the Bismuth - as in my friend....sigh. Of course it wasn't, and I slumped further in the bed with Lapis. "Uh, ma'am, we found more dead bodies in the allies a few minutes ago..." the Bismuth claimed, twiddling her fingers. Oh crap...

"What?!" Lapis asked in a stressed tone of voice, sitting up abruptly. "Yeah, um, some Rubies are takin' care of the bodies now and we were just wondering if you had anything to say about it?" the bulky woman asked. There was a moment of silence, and then Lapis spoke up again. "Bismuth, I need you to set up surveillance cameras in the alleyways and around our building today so we could see if there's any more murders tonight." Lapis stated, and with that, the Bismuth nodded her head, and left the room closing the door behind her.

"What the hell is with all of these bodies?!" I asked, utterly disturbed. "I have no fucking clue." Lapis deadpanned, staring at the TV. A 'ding' noise came from her phone, and she immediately picked it up and checked the message. It was quiet for a moment while she was reading the text, and as soon as she finished reading it, it looked like her heart just stopped. Her eyes were wide and her mouth was hanging open for a moment.

"What's wrong?!" I asked, clearly afraid of any more bad news.

Lapis's POV:

I kept reading the text over and over again.

Aquamarine: Hello Miss Lazuli. I just wanted to inform you that your new recruited Topaz and I have captured the youngest Crystal Gem known as Steven Universe and Yellow Diamond wants to see him for herself.

"Aquamarine has Steven! A-and Yellow Diamond wants to see him! He's gonna get killed, Peridot!" I said, panicking. Peridot just raised an eyebrow, visibly confused. "Why do you care? Aren't we against the Crystal Gems?! He's the little shit that killed Bismuth!" Peridot said, raising her voice. I was about to speak up, but I covered my mouth with my hand instead. I felt more tears filling my eyes.

Peridot's POV:

I realized that my tone was a little harsh, so my expression softened, and I put a hand on the bluenette's shoulder. Tears were filling her eyes and I was genuinely curious about why she was so upset. "W-why are you crying? This could be our chance to avenge Bismuth..." I explained in a more soft tone of voice. Lapis was silent for a while, and it seemed like she really wanted to say something - but she was hesitating.

"H-he's my brother..." Lapis finally muttered. "What?!" I asked, making sure I heard her correctly. "He's my little brother, Peridot! Steven is my little brother!" the bluenette shouted, clearly distraught. Steven is her little brother?! Her brother is a Crystal Gem?! What the hell?!

"Then why the hell is he apart of the Crystal Gems?!" I asked, throwing my arms up in the air. She sighed, looked down and closed her eyes. "It's kind of a long story..." she mumbled. I waited a few seconds, then put my hand on hers. "We have time..." I said, and I put my other hand on her chin and brought it up so her eyes could meet mine.

"Well Steven and I....we had a really close relationship before I was kidnapped and put into this hell-hole of a place. That pink-haired woman that um...k-killed your mom kind of adopted me..." Lapis said, blushing and looking to the side. "So your mom....killed my mom?" I asked, a little taken aback. "Y-yeah...I was trapped in an orphanage for the longest time 'til Rose adopted me when I was five years old....Steven was barely 2, but I had always wanted a little brother and I did everything I could to help take care of him." the bluenette explained.

"...a-and we had a really close relationship....whenever I got into an argument with mom he'd always  be there for me afterwards....if I were ever bullied, or tormented by Jasper....Steven was there....b-but when I was kidnapped, I never saw him again....When mom was killed the other night - that was the first time I saw Steven in over 7 years." Lapis said, her voice becoming more weak with every word.

"W-why didn't you talk to him? Comfort him or anything?!" I asked. "I couldn't let him see me and what I've become, Peri. I'd much rather him assume I'm dead...." she said in a shaky voice. There was another 'ding' sound that came from Lapis's phone, and she refused to look at it. "Please...can you read it?" she asked, looking down. I grabbed her phone, swiped the screen and unlocked it, and checked the new text message.

It was from Aquamarine. Oh of course.

Aquamarine: Update - Yellow Diamond's gonna put Steven on trial and ask him what he knows about the murder of Pink Diamond. If he does not answer to her, he will be punished. The trial will take place tomorrow at 6 pm.

"Do I even wanna know what she said?" Lapis asked, not even looking at me. Silence. "Probably not...." I muttered.
