The Portsmouth University Fresher's Fayre was massive. It was vibrant. It was lively, and there were plenty of societies to choose from. Aside from the myriad of societies vying for my attention, I was also enticed by the promise and subsequent delivery of free pizza from Pizza Hut. Although it was slightly cold, it tasted all the better to me since I knew that it was free. There was also free Dominos pizza, free Nando's chicken, and free chicken and chips from what can only be described as a budget KFC, called Ken's, all of which I did not partake in,
Whilst signing up for a series of societies, knowing myself that it is better to sign up for a lot of them and not have to go to all of them, I was offered a selection of free sweets and other useful everyday items. I did sign up for quite a few societies, including the Harry Potter and table tennis societies, but the two that got me really excited, also being the only two I have so far paid for membership to, were the Cinema Society, who watch a variety of films in the Students Union every month, and also take occasional trips to the Vue Cinema in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth's buzzing outlet shopping area, as well as Victory Media. The latter encompasses student-led enterprises in radio and television, as well as newspaper and magazine journalism. I will hopefully get the chance to try out aspect to see which I am most suited to, although I already know that I am particularly good at, and  interested in presenting on radio, owing to the fact that I have found myself on on two student radio stations previously, one in my secondary school, Les Quennevais, and RYFM at Youth Arts Jersey.
The excitement of the day took an unexpected turn when I signed up to the University doctor's surgery at the Fayre, and was advised by to jump the queue to go and get my yearly flu vaccination. I did this, and the only other purpose it served me other than renewing my protection against certain bacteria, was to confirm to myself that I will never, ever get a tattoo, which I am writing here for the explicit  purpose of somebody being able to remind me of this in the future if my mind ever does wonder through such a possibility.
Overall, the day was successful and I am looking forward to sampling these societies later in the coming weeks.
