David's POV
I tapped the horse's side with my boot, commanding him to run faster. It felt like we couldn't go fast enough. I have to get to the port before they leave.
I don't know if it is Emma or someone masquerading as her but I sure as hell am going to find out.
Belle said killian looked like he was planning a journey, a long one. Who knows when he'll leave or if he'll ever come back.
"David, you're going to need to go a bit faster!" Regina yelled from behind me. She'd insisted on coming even though I had four of my men with me.
"You don't think I know that!" I tapped the horse again and surprisingly enough he picked up more speed I didn't know was possible.
"If you'd let me use my magic-"
"We talked about this! We could poof in and end up at the end of a sword! Now I don't know about you but I'd like to live to see Emma's return!" I don't even know if she heard me or if my voice got lost in the wind but I didn't care enough to stop and tell her again.
"Your majesty, we're approaching the port." One of my guards said. I didn't respond but I tugged on the reigns to slow the horse down.
We all stopped and dismounted the horses. We couldn't get too close, if Snow is right and Killian did drink that potion it means he's back to being Captain Hook. And Captain Hook was a rioter if there ever were one.
"Do you see anything?" Regina whispered from her spot next to me.
"We are literally sitting in a bush. Do you think I can see much?" I snapped. I saw her roll her eyes from the corner of my own but didn't mention it.
"Sorry love." My head snapped up and I instantly looked above the foliage. Killian. He was fighting a lot of men, all of which looked like pirates. But they weren't on the Jolly Rodger.
"What the hell do you think you're doing!" My eyes bulged as I heard her voice.
It was my daughter. I couldn't stop myself from standing up, only to be pulled back down.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed?! Whatever's happened to them has made it so they aren't themselves. They probably only know you as the king."
Regina was right. I couldn't risk it.
I watched the two fight, neither looked willing to stop until they saw blood.
"Can't you do something!" I begged Regina. "Put them to sleep or something!" I turned back to Emma in time to watch Killian fall to the deck with Emma following suit.
"I told you magic was the best option." Regina muttered under her breath but I'd already began my sprint to the ship. I couldn't wait any longer.
"Oh my god." I breathed, crouching down to the deck of the ship. I cradled Emma's head in my lap as a single tear fell.
In an instant, purple smoke surrounded us and before I could blink we were back at the castle. I looked around and saw that we were only in the front entrance.
"You couldn't have taken us somewhere private?" I scooped Emma up in my arms and held her close to me.
"I'm a little distracted. And besides, where would we put them? They aren't themselves." She was right. But I'd never admit that.
"Your majesty, what happened?" A guard asked as they ran up to me.
"I need you not to speak a word of this. Summon my wife to the dungeon and tell Robin to come collect Killian. I sure as hell can't carry both of them." I huffed and started walking to the cells under the castle.
"Are you sure the dungeon is the best option?" Regina called.
I kept walking away from her with tears streaming down my cheeks at the sheer thought of locking my daughter in a cell meant for the worst of the kingdom. I looked down to Emma in my arms, she looked so peaceful. Her face is as beautiful as I remember and I never want to let her go again.
"You said it yourself. She's not Emma." My voice cracked but I kept walking, savouring the moment with my daughter.
In all the scenarios I'd pictured in my head of how I'd come to be reunited with Emma, this was not one of them. I don't even know what has happened to her or where she's been.
I looked down at her, stopping in my tracks. She wasn't harmed. There are no marks or cuts or breaks in her body. How could that be? All of her injuries appeared on Henry, he was in agony. Yet her beautiful face was in tact.
"Open the cell." I didn't care how blunt I was to the prison guard.
"Yes your majesty." He unlocked the door and I laid Emma gently on the ground and stroked her hair.
"I love you, Emma." I kissed her forehead as more tears fell. "I know you won't remember me for a while and I know that you aren't you at the minute, but your mother and I love you. Regina and Henry love you. And believe it or not Killian loves you. And we will be here for you when this spell is broken." My voice cracked again as I kissed her forehead one last time.
I nodded my head to the guard and he locked the cell.
I spent so much time after that trying to mentally prepare myself for what happens next. For how she'll treat the family, how she'll speak to her son.
I tried to come up with something to say to console Henry and Regina and robin and everyone else but I just couldn't. Nothing came to mind except my daughter laying unconscious in a dirty cell.
I couldn't give her a bed or a pillow or even a blanket. Because as far as she's concerned she's a dirty pirate captain who is vengeful towards the royal family.
When I left the dungeon I came face to face with Snow and Henry.
"Why didn't you tell me my mom was back!" He yelled at me, trying to push past.
"Henry!" I caught his shoulder and pulled him back. "It's not her. Something's happened and this isn't Emma. We'll figure something out but for now you can't go in there." Without warning he broke into tears. I pulled him into my chest and enveloped Snow too.
"We will fix our family."
