Third persons POV
"Swan? You alright?" Hook called to the captain facing him. "You look a little pale."
"I'm fine." She breathed through her need to vomit. She could feel it rising and it wasn't getting any better as the moments went on.
"Bloody hell, where's a guard when you need one?" He muttered to himself just as Emma hunched over and threw up. Hook crinkled his nose in disgust and turned away. Although, some part of him wanted to go over there, stroke her hair and comfort her.
Of course he'd never admit that.
"Are you dealing with a really bad case of the morning after a night of drinking or are you unwell? I don't need to be catching any illness right before a big journey" he scoffed.
"Such a gentleman." She spoke in between breaths. "Damn it." Just as she thought the nausea had passed she once again vomited.
"Hey! Guards! You useless idiots!" Hook continued to shout and try to get someone's attention until the door opened to reveal Snow White.
"Thank god you're here! Anything you're going to do for her?" He shouted, sudden anger overcoming him.
Her mouth fell open at the sight of her daughter. Not the fact that Emma was throwing up but this is the first time she's seen her daughter in months.
She wanted to cry. She wanted to run over there and hug her. She never wanted to let her go. She wanted to tell her how much she loved her.
But she couldn't.
Instead, Snow held her head high and put on a brave face.
"Oh goodness. What's wrong?" Despite her best efforts, Snow White's motherly side showed.
"What's wrong is that every breath she takes only makes her sicker. And if you insist on keeping us captive and not saying why then I suggest you help her!" Hook yelled. He wasn't sure why he cared so much and for some reason he really enjoyed caring.
"I'll get the doctor." Snow rushed, eager to get away from the two. She couldn't stand not being able to comfort her daughter or even watching Emma and hook not in love.
It was too much.
"These royals are a joke." Emma groaned through heavy breaths. "Their child will probably take after them and fail the land."
"Aye, that they will." There was a moment of silence between the two. Neither of them knew what to say to the other. It's not like they were friends, they shared a drunken night and a morning duel. Now they share a dungeon and the smell of vomit.
"I'm fine now, by the way." Emma scoffed. She moved away from where she just was in an attempt to get as far away from the smell as possible. "Thanks for asking."
He didn't reply. Instead he sat on the floor and counted the cracks in the stones. He had to do something to distract himself from his thoughts.
While the two captains were down in the cells trying to fight the tension, the heroes gathered in Henry's room.
"Honesty guys, I'm fine. It was probably just a bad breakfast!" Henry insisted as the nausea faded completely.
"You are not fine Henry-"
"Mom, my temperature is gone and I haven't thrown up since the first time and that was hours ago!" He pushed, desperately wanting to leave his bed.
"Henry, look. If you're not sick for another four hours we'll let you out of bed. Until then, just let them take care of you. They're mothers - they're mothering. It's what they do." Charming smirked, turning around and walking away from the bed.
He got to the doorframe before bumping into a nightstand.
"Who moved that?" He groaned, leaning down to pick up the objects that fell. Suddenly he stopped. "Hey, I think you should all see this!" David called. Everyone quickly rushed over to see what he was staring at.
"How the hell did that get here?" Regina questioned.
"I don't know, but there's probably a reason." Snow said as she picked it up.
"That makes sense! I've been dreaming about writing!" Henry shouted, ignoring the adults request to stay in bed and promptly making his way over. He snatched it back and graced his fingers over the gold embossing.
Once Upon A Time.
"The book is back. We have to find Rumple."
"Henry you're the author, aren't you connected to the book? You used to write in it without realising." Regina spoke.
"Yeah, but I didn't even know it existed outside of Storybrooke. If anyone is going to know why the book is back, it's him."
"Well, I'm afraid you're only part right there, author!"
In an instant the dark one appeared in front of them.
"Second time in one day, aren't we lucky." Regina scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"Yes, yes you are. Well, as a matter of fact, the book isn't supposed to exist outside of storybrooke. If the book is here then it's a strong force bringing it here. As for your other part, I do in fact know why it's here. It's been here for some time now."
"Then why have we never found it before? We've been here for nearly a year." Regina pressed.
"Perhaps one of you had found it before." He said suggestively, nodding towards Henry with the book in his hands.
Before anyone could question, he was gone again.
"That little imp sure does love his riddles." Snow rolled her eyes.
Henry started flicking through the pages, glancing at the colourful pictures and the cursive writing. He thought his role as the author was over because he also thought the book was out of existence.
Then he stopped.
"I've been writing. The whole time I've been writing down everything. Look, I've even got what's been happening to my mom!" Henry showed his family the pages of his cursive writing, detailing Emma's pain. Still, no one spoke. Unsure of what to say.
"I think I'm still linked to my mom. That's why I was sick!"
"Henry that doesn't explain anything. We don't know why Emma is ill." Regina spoke calmly, placing her hand on her son's shoulder.
"No! Look!" Henry flicked forward a few pages, stopping on a picture of Emma sleeping.
"Oh my god." Snow gasped, leaning into her husband.
In the picture, Emma lay next to Killian. Both smiling with one hand interlinked. The other hand?
On Emma's growing baby bump.
