Rumple's POV

"I can't believe you were going to tell them!" Regina screamed. "We agreed not to and you blatantly went against that!"

"Regina, calm down. I'm sure there's a reason. If they're telling us it means they didn't do it. Hear them out."

"Thank you, Robin. Regina, I'm sorry we went against you." Snow began, pleadingly. "But we are glad we did! We went down there and Emma was sleeping. Killian was telling her about his dreams. He's remembering! They're only little bits and pieces but if they're coming back it means the curse is weakening!"

The crystal ball in front of me showed the family arguing, as they had been doing for weeks. They were coming undone. Just as I planned.

I walked away from my seat at the table and turned my attention to the wall. My fingers graced the surface as I scaled the perimeter.

I stepped back and raised my hand, commanding my magic. The smoke appeared and cleared instantly, revealing the door. It swung open and revealed a golden blur, waiting to be deciphered.

"Sweetie, calm down. You're okay." Emma spoke calmly to the child. The gold swirl cleared and I could see the final part of my plan. "Just talk to me."

"Mother! It's not okay! I can't control it!" The child grew frantic, their anxiety levels causing their magic to cause chaos. "What's happening to me!" Tree branches fell and strong gusts of wind whipped around.

"Just come here and it'll stop. You need to calm down." The pirate spoke to the child, holding one hand out.

Well, the hand that he had.

Emma joined him and she too reached out. The child took an apprehensive step towards their parents, slowly placing their palms on each of the parents hands.

Suddenly the door slammed closed and the vision was gone.

A huge grin rose to my face, excitement filling my body.  It's coming together.

I waved my hand again and waited for the other door to appear. When it did, I walked through it and into my sealed room. I walked towards the glass cabinet that held the sword, glowing bright red with anger. Next I stepped to the closet, holding both items of clothing. The torn ball gown from the princess and the red dress shirt from the pirate. They both emitted a golden glow, infused with the power of true love.

Now all I needed was the item from the king.

His sadness is the key to my plan. All I have to do is provoke it. The king would never intentionally show his emotions, especially his slow fall into being a recluse.
When I acquire the last symbol of emotion I can finally enact my plan.

You see, I need a new protégés. Someone to take over from me. It appears my time as the dark one is coming to an end, the powers that be clearly think it's time for me to pass the torch, so to say.

And who better than a child born of true love with the greatest potential for darkness?

I've tried the original saviour, that didn't go so well.

The second saviour of that generation should do just fine.

This child will be born, yes true of heart and pure of intention. But also with the darkest subconscious - being the child of a centuries old blood thirsty pirate will do that to you. Not to mention that both of its parents were once the dark one and have surrendered themselves to the darkness once before.

Of course, it's going to be a fight to get the mother to release the child into my care, for me to raise the child and sculpt its powers to meet its darkest capabilities. But the time will come.

Everyone will soon see it my way - the only way to protect that child.

And when that day comes, that child will reek havoc across the kingdom. The mother will loose all control over it and hopefully the motherly bond she'll soon share.

As soon as the child cuts ties with the family, I can get to work. While this may be a long term plan, let it be remembered I waited years for the saviour to be born and 28 years after that.

I can wait 7 and a half months for a baby, and 13 years after that.
