"I really think that you should report this to Alpha

"I really think that you should report this to Alpha. For God's sake, those kids are out of control!" Bertha burst angrily while patting baby Ella's back to make her burp. But, the grumpy baby did not burp, but started wailing loudly. I swore this baby had lungs of steel. She could wake all patients in the pack clinic just by sobbing.

"Bertha, don't burst in front of her. You know she doesn't like that," I reminded her softly while taking the baby from Bertha's arms, rocking her back and forth gently. "And, I really won't report them to Alpha. I don't want to get more problems."

Bertha shook her head. "Okay, if you won't, I will."

She turned her body, but I quickly put my right hand on her shoulder, stopping her to go. "Please, please, Bertha. Don't tell Alpha, please. I'm fine." I pleaded.

"Honey, your Nana will be so sad in heaven to see you like this. Please, let me tell this matter to Alpha Mason."

"No, Bertha. I don't want Killian and his father to fight over a trivial matter. They have other important responsibilities. I can bear this, I promise, Bertha." Tears started running down my face. I could not let Alpha Mason deal with my problem with his son. He and Luna Ellie had been so nice to me all the time, especially when my parents died. I could not bear to see the sadness in their eyes if they knew the truth about Killian and I now.

Bertha started to cry, embracing me in her warm hug. "Oh, Honey! Okay, I promise not to tell Alpha Mason. I promise."

I released the hug and wiped her tears. "Thank you, Bertha. It means a lot to me. I can't thank you enough for keeping all my secrets."

She lifted up the corner of her lips, giving me a smile. "You're welcome, Honey. You don't have to be afraid. Your secrets are safe with me."

I smiled. "Of course. I believe you, Bertha."

Bertha was always a motherly figure to me. She was the one who wiped my tears when I could not even wipe a single tear. Her small frame was always so warm and inviting when I was shivering in cold. Her smile was always so encouraging when I was swallowing my disappointment.

Thank you, Moon Goddess, for giving me such an angel.

As I put baby Ella back to her cot, the door of the daycare room was opened in a sudden, and a head popped out curiously.

"Hi, there!" It was Luna Ellie.

Oh, God, a minute earlier and she would pass out hearing my sob story.

We bowed in respect. "Luna."

She chuckled while approaching us. "Oh, come on, guys. I've told you a thousand times that you don't need to bow. We're in the twenty-first century, guys."

Well, this Luna is really something.

Bertha laughed. "Is there anything we can help, Luna?"

"Yeah. Well, our dear Killian is finally going to be 18! Can you guys believe that? It seems just like yesterday when I first heard his first cry."

Killian's birthday. How could I ever forget? It would be in two weeks, and I already prepared his present.

Luna Ellie started fiddling her fingers. "And, Mason and I plan to make this party to celebrate his birthday. I mean, he's gonna have a mate! And we think that his mate must appear in the party. So..."

Mate. His mate. Killian's mate. The words made my body tremble in an unpleasant way. My heart was clenched by an overbearing emotion. I felt like curling myself in the corner and cried my heart out.

He will leave me for good soon.

"Heidi? Darling?" Luna Ellie's voice brought me back from my misery. I looked at her, finding her staring at me worriedly and Bertha's sad eyes.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Luna. Did you say something?"

"Are you okay, Darling? You look pale."

"I'm fine, Luna." I smiled, assuring her that I was fine. At the moment.

She released a breath and smiled sweetly. "I'm glad. So, will you help me, Darling?"

I stared at her in confusion. "Excuse me, Luna?"

"Will you help me to prepare Killian's birthday party?"

I knew that this was coming. I really wanted to be a part of one of his big days. I wanted to be a part of his happiness. I wanted to see him smiling broadly, enjoying his time. I even wanted to see him smiling to his mate when he finally found her in the party.

But, deep inside my heart, I was not sure that Killian would be happy seeing me planning his birthday party. He could not stand in the same place as me. He looked at me in disgust, even to my shadow.

Maybe I should not plan his party at all. Or even come to the party.

But, seeing those eyes staring at me hopefully and pleadingly, I could not help myself and said:

"Of course, Luna."
