I have seen a thousand things
A thousand minds and what they bring
To this world and to this home
But where I stand, well, I don't know
In between the confusion pooling in his eyes, I could tell Killian was straining Zale from taking control of his body and mind. His eyes were changing from green to gold, green to gold. His chest was pumping so hard that I could see it moving up and down furiously. His hands were shaking badly, as if in some seconds, he would burst into tiny pieces.
I could feel my hands were shaking, following his every movement.
No one talked; only silence surrounded us that was almost deafening me. The corpses on the ground, the injured men who were grimacing in pain, the ex-mate who was raging in anger in front of me, the stabber beside me who was holding me tight... No one talked. Only the smell of blood was raging in the air, killing every nose as it passed.
Well, had not.
"Pathetic hunters," Killian growled under his harsh breath. His pearly teeth mixed with blood were showing dangerously, not like what I remembered when he used to smile at me.
"Now, now. Killian." Duncan's voice rang in my head like an annoying alarm that woke me up in the middle of beautiful dream. His acknowledgement of my pack and my ex-mate started to scare me a little. "Don't need to shift now, do you? Or, are you that weak in human form?" he snickered and laughed like a maniac, making my body weaker in fear than ever.
Killian let out a harsh breath, reminding me of the angry dragon that would spit its fire breath. "Believe me. I can rip you to shreds right now." His voice sounded hoarse, the kind of lacing with anger.
"Oh, I'm so scared. Aren't you going to help me, Darling?" He brought me closer to him and sniffed my hair. I rubbed my palms to the hem of my sweatshirt, while occasionally gripping it as I stood awkwardly with his arm around me. "Hmm, lavender."
My eye was still locked with Killian, and I noticed the changing color became more intense. Zale must have been so pissed with Duncan that he was fighting so hard to take control from Killian.
"Zale," Selena whimpered in a painful tone in my head, which immediately brought a painful tug in my heart. "Zale."
Suddenly, Killian widened both of his beautiful green orbs, as if he had just realized something important. For some seconds, no glints of golden orbs appeared from beneath the green pools, that could only mean that Killian managed to control Zale.
I could not stop staring at the beautiful sight in front of me regardless of the danger that glued by my eye. It was becoming blurry, as he sucked my soul slowly but surely. It was like he was searching for something in my eye; he focused so hard that his forehead became wrinkled, but his eyes were still open wide for me to explore.
