Thunders were roaring in the sky, enticing the lightning strike to the deep sea. The storm was raging in anger, pushing the salty water back and forth brutally. A small, wooden boat was making its way through the storm wobbly, hanging on the hope for dear life. A chanty soon changed its tune to become a repeated prayer, becoming louder and louder as the violent storm was stirring the sea into a massive mess.
That was what happened inside my mind now.
I was still sitting on my exclusive lunch seat, twiddling my sandwich with mouth agape. My eye was running the banner, making sure that my only eye did not fool me. But, no matter how many times I saw the banner, the words were sitting sweetly there.
Congratulations on your rejection!
I finally snapped back from my nightmare to face Jax. His once a goofy smile was totally changed into a frosty one that shocked my nerves to a mixture of fear and sadness. I could not believe now the whole school knew that I was the rejected one.
"Oh, Luna!" Jax snickered loudly, intending the word to reach every corner of the cafeteria. "We made this specially for you. Do you like it?"
I kept silent. My vision now was slightly blurry, and I was sure the next seconds, it would pour down. I was so surprised that my tear duct still produced a single tear, remembering how I wasted so much at Killian's birthday.
The obnoxious cheering sounds were buzzing in the room, just like some busy bees in the morning. Jax raised his right arm, asking everyone to stop. The room instantly was dead silent that a single pin dropped would make a clanking noise that traveled through everyone's ears.
He put his hand on my shoulder while batting his eyelashes innocently. "Oh, Luna, why are you crying?" His voice sounded concerned, lacing with sarcasm.
I gripped my sandwich tighter as my breath became rapid.
"Ah!" He gasped loudly, like a bulb finally dinged in his mind in a sudden. "You must be so happy! Oh, I knew this idea would make you happy!" He proudly patted his own chest.
Why, Moon Goddess? Why did you give him the ability to make me suffer?
I was still wallowing in despair to notice he made a move towards me. His hot breath fanned my left ear, sending multiple shivers of fear to my body. "Thank you, Moon Goddess! You have blessed this pack with a smart future Alpha."
Almost as a reflex action, I pushed his body slightly and ran away from the cafeteria. The crowd broke into chants of 'Luna! Luna!' while laughing their butts off.
Only them who could make a 'Luna' title a laughingstock.
I ran as far as my legs could carry me, without any destination. The trees were blurred as tears kept streaming down my face swiftly. I wiped them harshly with the back of my hand, but they kept coming down stubbornly.
