"Okay, here is the plan," Lou said excitedly, yet a hint of tiredness obviously laced in her tone. She showed us her master plan on the little whiteboard in the kitchen. "Some of us will find jobs in the city." She circled the word 'city'. "And some will stay at The Magical Home with Nana and the kids. Sounds good?"
Pam immediately shot up from the dining chair, clapping her hands excitedly while keeping her eyes on Lisa's hands. Lisa reflected the same emotion as Pam, chuckling silently.
I noticed Kayla lifted the corner of her lips into a soft smile. "That sounds like a plan to me," she said in a weak tone while massaging Nana's right arm softly. Nana just stared blankly at Lou as the exhaustion radiated from every inch of her body.
Not only Nana. It seemed the flying visit of Duncan and his lovely father last night really sucked the life out of us. Except Pam, of course. The sweet little bundle of sunshine and energy.
I nodded in agreement while making my way to kneel on Nana's right side, rubbing her forearm gently. "So, who will stay and who will hunt the jobs?"
Lou took the vacant chair in front of her and sat on it. She tapped her fingers on the dining table lightly. "That's what we need to discuss. I'm not sure myself to hunt the jobs or to stay here."
I sighed as my mind recalled the night I ran away from my former pack. Going to the city was the only thing I could think at that time before I was stranded in The Magical Home. The fiery spirit of my past self about discovering the city and meeting human was long forgotten once I was at ease in this home with a new family. Truthfully, I would rather stay here with Nana, helping her to deal with these adorable kids.
So, probably, I'll stay.
I smiled as I massaged Nana's arm enthusiastically, imagining myself being drowned by those little kids rather than the rude adults lingering in the city. The problem with kids would definitely be more 'gentle' than those problems triggered by adults.
Like Killian.
Pam suddenly clapped her hands, calling for our attention that wandered to Moon Goddess knew where. I looked at her as she signed something to everyone. She was smiling so widely that I was afraid it would tear her face into two parts.
But, my attention was stolen again by seeing Lou and Lisa immediately shot up and stared at her mouth agape. I knew whatever Pam signed was also worthy of such a reaction from me. I cleared my throat while tilting my head in confusion. "What did she say?"
"She-" Lou trailed off, "she has found a job in the city."
"What?!" Kayla and I yelped in unison. I immediately shot up from my position beside Nana. "How?"
Pam grinned widely in response, showing me her pearly teeth. "O... i..s... o... i...," she said thrillingly, moving her arms like a flying bird.
