The sensation of flying so high in the sky and dancing with the cupids were all blown away by a high pressure forcing me back to the Earth. The warmth of Duncan's hug that started engulfing my broken heart came to an abrupt halt, leaving my heart frozen again. My body immediately went stiff as a board as the demanding sound yelled furiously in the back of my mind.
And, I'm so sure I don't have any control over that voice.
"Heidi?" Duncan's voice snapped me back from the confusing state I was in. "Your body suddenly goes rigid like a rock. Are you alright?"
"Huh?" I came out of daze disorientated. I looked up and saw Duncan raising one of his eyebrows in confusion.
"Are you alright?" he asked again. Concern was crystal in his voice as well as in his blue orbs.
"Y- Yeah," I assured him softly, pulling my body out from his warm body. "Um, Duncan, I think I should take a break. My head's throbbing." I tapped my forehead gently. It was not a lie, though. My head had a mind of its own indeed.
Duncan immediately put his hand on my forehead, feeling my temperature under my skin. He kept his gaze lingering on my only eye in which I gulped due to the intense stare. "You're burning, Heidi! Oh, My God! Oh, My God!" he suddenly yelled in panic. His eyes were wide in hysteria that I could smell even from far away. "You should lie down."
Oh, no! No! I'll be in the same place with the grumpy Mr. Peterson!
"I'm okay, Duncan," I said softly, smiling weakly at his concerned face expression. "But-"
He shook his head vigorously. "No, you're not okay," he abruptly cut me. "You must be so tired from the amount of work that my father gives you. Oh, God! Why should this happen to you?!" he yelled hysterically like a mother hen who just learnt the fact that her children were beaten by some bullies.
I set my lips to thin line, attempting to hide my laughter that was about to burst any second now. "Duncan," I cooed at him, immediately having his attention back from whining about his father being an imbecile. "Can I have a glass of water?"
"Sure, sure. We need to keep you hydrated." He nodded in agreement while rushing me to the stool in the hay room. "Stay here, okay? I'll be right back."
I watched his back in amusement as he literally leaped frantically to the main house. It was so funny seeing him in panic and all, releasing his inner mother quality.
He's really cute, almost like-
"Human, what did I tell you about dreaming him?"
My body went stiff again as the jumbles of fear started trailing up my body. I scanned the hay room with my sole eye, hoping to meet the answer to the constant preach in the unconscious part of my mind. But, instead, the room was in a silent mode, with the faint sound of wind blowing outside the barn.
