This was it.
I glanced around Alpha Mason's and Luna Ellie's backyard, inwardly praising myself for my hard work and dedication in making today memorable for the almighty Killian. I could not recognize the backyard anymore, and so I was so positive that the pack would be so pleased with the decorations. The black and white paper lanterns were hanging in the air, giving the night sky some twinkles of lights. The votive candles were spread on the backyard ground, glowing paths on the backyard and setting up the mood. Some tables with black tablecloth and white chairs stood in harmony with the dim lights from paper lanterns and votive candles. The wooden poles with boxwood garlands adorned the so-called "dance ground".
Good job, Heidi!
I rechecked the decorations while lighting up the candles. A soft music played on the background, making me sigh in a relax manner. I had been so jumpy these past hours, added to the fact that I had not seen Alpha Mason, Luna Ellie, or even the birthday boy came to the backyard yet.
Relax, Heidi! It will all fall to the right places.
Someone suddenly poked my shoulder lightly. I turned around from what I was doing to see Bertha, grinning widely at me. "Honey, the foods and drinks are ready to be served!"
I sighed happily. "Thank you so much, Bertha. I don't know what I should do without you and the pack clinic staffs."
Yes, Bertha asked all pack clinic staffs to help me put a wide smile to the Young Alpha's beautiful face on his birthday. Fortunately, they agreed in unison and started throwing whatever they were doing at that time and ran to Alpha Mason's house. Luna Ellie had this shock face when she opened the door and saw a battalion of pack clinic staffs standing in front of her door with 'on-war' expressions.
Bertha scoffed playfully, "Oh, Honey, they are really happy to help you. They even threw tantrums about why you didn't ask for help earlier." She laughed a little.
I joined her laugh. This was the reason why I really liked hanging out with older werewolves more. They were not such a pain in my butt. They understood that I was screaming for help when I put my happy face on. They rescued me as I wallowed in my loneliness, accepting every flaw in my body by befriending me.
"Oh, Honey, are you going to change?" She pointed at my clothes.
I shook my head weakly. I put on my black jeans and a white, simple blouse. I did not think of dolling myself up since I would be running here and there, and dress and make-up were not comfortable at all.
"Oh, Darling!" A loud scream suddenly echoed in the backyard, muting the soft background music. "Oh, holy Moon Goddess, it's so beautiful!"
I noticed it was Luna Ellie's sound. I saw her beaming around the backyard. The dim light from the paper lanterns made her eyes more twinkled in happiness. Her grin could not go wider more, and I was afraid that it would split her face into two parts. She twirled while clapping her hands like a little kid. My heart fluttered at the sight of her happiness while sighing in relief that there was no sign of disapproval in her eyes.
