"So... you... are... a... flower... fairy?..." I asked Pam, who was now back to her original body, sitting face to face with me on the mat. She stared at my lips hardly, tilting her head in confusion.
Lisa took this as a cue, and immediately signed something to Pam rapidly. Pam nodded in a fast motion repeatedly. A smile slowly appeared on her face, shining the flowery meadow with her megawatt smile.
Mental note: learn sign language.
Pam looked at me. Her brown eyes lit up with happiness. "es..."
"But..." I switched my gaze to Lisa. "But, I thought flower fairy is this small?" I showed her the distance between my thumb and my little finger. I remembered my Nana used to tell me a story of beautiful little creatures that could make the spring knock on your door every day.
It's such a beautiful story.
Lisa shook her head, signing what I assumed my question to Pam. Pam instantly shook her head. "O... I..s... ong..."
"It's... wrong?" I confirmed.
"Well, books are clearly wrong," Lou said, grabbing my attention from Pam to her. Her hands were busy braiding Kayla's blonde hair skillfully. "Flower fairies are just like werewolves. They..." Lou's voice faded out all at once. Hearing the word 'werewolves' made my skin shiver as those bad memories hit me in a lightning speed.
I know, mind. I know I haven't successfully moved on from my bad past. You don't have to remind me every day and scrub the truth in front of my face.
Two hands patted my back softly. I shook my head, clearing my mind from the bitter past to face the worried faces of Lisa and Pam. I gave them a weak smile, trying to impress them that I was okay.
"You're daydreaming again," Lou pointed in a motherly way. I let out a soft sigh, getting frustrated slowly since the light to a better life did not fall on me.
"I'm sorry." I put my head down, looking at my fingers on my lap.
"Oh, Honey," Kayla cooed as her hand was searching for something, patting the mat softly. When she found my hands, she put her hand on top of mine. "You don't need to apologize. We understand that it's still a hard time for you."
Lou and Lisa nodded in agreement. "It's okay, Heidi. Time will heal your broken heart." Lou gave me an encouraging smile in the end.
"I hope so. I really hope so."
I really hope someday my heart will understand that Killian is out of my life.
Lisa and Pam suddenly engulfed my body in their warm hugs, squeezing the life out of me in a good way. I noticed that Lou also dragged her body from behind Kayla, wrapping her arms around us four.
However, our peaceful moment was broken down by a sudden piercing shriek traveled through the thin air. In an instant, my eye snapped open, searching for the possible source of such a painful sound. My eye popped when I saw the little-brunette-with-pink-socks girl crying her lungs out in the middle of the flowers. I immediately jumped and ran to the poor little girl.
