I woke up later than I usually did, way past sunrise, on the training ground floor. I stood and stretched having not slept very well. Not because I slept on the ground, I always did that, but because I slept alone.
For the past five years I always had my pack to cuddle with and keep me warm and safe. Last night if I wasn't shivering I was too alert looking for danger around me to sleep. I shook my head to rid my clean hair of the dust from the ground before heading off towards the ninja academy where the test would be held today.
On my way, I noticed that the mountain carvings were different today. Yesterday they had colorful strokes of paint covering them and I assumed that was how they were supposed to look. Briefly, I wondered if someone sabotaged the monument by washing off all the paint.
I entered the academy and found the right room, the only room with people my age inside. There was a man speaking to the class about the exam. He wore a similar vest to Kakashi and had brown hair tied up in a ponytail, he also had a large scar running over his nose.
"Hello," he greeted me, "I'm Iruka-sensei, and you must be Miyu. The Hokage sent me a letter this morning letting me know you would be participating in the exam today." I nodded to him and took a step inside the classroom, the door having been open already.
"Introduce yourself!" someone called out drawing my attention to the class of twelve and thirteen year olds seated before me. Iruka-sensei smiled at me.
"Go ahead," he encouraged, "tell everyone your name and answer a few questions." I turned my attention back to the eagerly awaiting class.
"My name is Miyu Uchiha." I watched 90% of the class' jaws drop.
The classroom quickly dissolved into mummers of which I caught snippets.
"No way,"
"She's lying"
"There's only one Uchiha and that's Sasuke."
"What a poser."
"Prove it!" a blonde girl shouted with a smirk causing the whole class to begin chanting at me to 'prove it'. I scowled at their antics.
I shouldn't have to prove my heritage.
After a few minutes of chanting, I finally let the peer pressure get the better of me and activated my sharingan, effectively silencing the entire class. I gave the blonde a deadly glare and watched her expression of surprise before it appeared on her face.
"I shouldn't have to prove my heritage to anyone." I snapped out, my blood red eyes still glaring around the room. I noticed Sasuke, too cool to seem totally surprised, sat back in his chair with his eyes slightly wider than normal. I deactivated my sharingan and the class began to roar with questions that even Iruka-sensei was unable to calm.
"How is that possible?"
"You have white hair, isn't that the exact opposite of an Uchiha?"
"Where were you all these years?"
"What happened to you?"
"Do you like Sasuke?"
"Do you know what happened to your clan?"
"Why have you been gone?"
"Why didn't you ever enroll into school?"
I gave Iruka-sensei a helpless look, to which he responded with a wide-eyed shrug. I cleared my throat and the class gradually quieted. I took a deep breath before launching into an explanation lengthy enough to be rid of all the questions.
