Sakura seemed particularly let down which I found odd. She clearly favored Sasuke, and after his lunchtime confession I imagined she would be bouncing off the walls.
Naruto was fidgeting, growing impatient, while Sasuke sat stoically as if he had only just arrived. Naruto, having had enough of waiting, hopped up from his seat to grab a chalkboard eraser. He broke the silence by sliding a chair over to the classroom door to place the eraser on the top.
"Naruto, what are you doing?" Sakura growled out.
"Just a little prank, serves him right for making us wait so long!" Naruto explained seeming more excited than angry. Sasuke scoffed.
"Do you really think a jonin, an elite ninja, would fall for a stupid prank like that?" Sasuke spoke up.
I can't imagine an elite ninja wouldn't notice an eraser on the door. I mean it's pretty obviously placed.
"Shut up, Sasuke!" Naruto shouted taking his seat again. Moments later footsteps were heard outside the classroom door. We all waited in anticipation as the door slid open, allowing the eraser to fall and plop on our new sensei's head. I smiled in recognition; it was the jonin that found me in the woods, Kakashi.
"He fell for it! He actually fell for it!" Naruto laughed out, unable to control himself. The jonin hummed to his self in thought.
"My first impression is..." he paused for dramatic effect, "you're all idiots." We sighed and followed him to the roof.
"Alright, everyone. How about you introduce yourselves?" Kakashi suggested, seeming like this was the last place he wanted to be.
"Introduce ourselves?" Naruto asked.
"Yeah, your likes, dislikes, hobbies, dreams for the future... that sort of thing." Kakashi clarified, not really sating Naruto's confusion.
"Why don't you start, sensei? Show us how it's done." Sakura suggested helpfully. I nodded in agreement, noting the usefulness a template would be. Sakura seemed smart when she wasn't fawning over Sasuke.
"Ok," Kakashi started, "My name is Kakashi Hatake. I don't really have any likes or dislikes, my hobbies... I don't feel like telling you that, and my dreams for the future... never really thought about it."
"All we really learned from that was his name." Sakura deadpanned. Naruto nodded back to her.
"Ok, you," Kakashi-sensei pointed to Naruto, "go first."
"Alright," Naruto nodded, "My name is Naruto Uzumaki! I like instant ramen and I really like the ramen that Iruka-sensei bought me, but I hate the three minutes you have to wait for it to cook. My hobby is... pranks I guess. My dream is to one day be the Hokage so that people will have to stop looking down on me and finally see me as someone.... someone important!" Naruto declared, seeming determined. Kakashi-sensei nodded absently before turning his gaze to Sakura, signifying her to start.
"Sakura Haruno, here!" Sakura started strong, "my likes are... I mean the person I like is..." she giggled and blushed giving Sasuke a glance, "my hobbies are..." she put a hand over her mouth to muffle the slightly louder giggle, "and my dream for the future is..." she trailed off, her giggle turning more into a squeal.
"And dislikes?" Kakashi-sensei sighed out.
"Naruto!" Sakura yelled out, her bubbly mood suddenly turning fiery. Naruto's shoulders drooped.
"Alright, you next." Kakashi-sensei's gaze moved down the line to Sasuke.
"My name is Sasuke Uchiha. I don't have many things that I like and I dislike even more. My hobbies are training. My dream is not so much a dream because it will become a reality, it is to avenge the death of my clan and to kill a certain someone." Sasuke spoke out, no inflection coating his dark words. The atmosphere around our group was suddenly stifling.
