It had been a few days, but it seemed the boys finally finished their training. They informed us all by collapsing through the door from exertion.
Sasuke, somehow, bounced right back with a good night's rest. I assumed it was because his body was used to strict training regimens. Naruto, however, needed more time and decided to sleep in today. I guess he expended too much chakra training.
Regardless of the missing blonde, Team 7 made our way to the bridge with Tazuna as per our mission. It's been a while now, so the bridge is pretty close to being complete. But then again, I'm not a bridge builder so maybe there's a lot more to be done.
Today was different from the other days we've spent in the Wave country and I think Kakashi-sensei could feel it too. There was no doubt in my mind, maybe it was instinct, but I knew with all certainty that today we would be attacked.
The bridge was foggier than normal. I couldn't help but feel the thick mist was familiar. The first sight we could make out once on the bridge was the unconscious bodies of Tazunas' workers.
"What... what is this?" Tazuna gasped out instantly going to one of the workers and shaking his shoulder.
"We were ambushed..." the man breathed out, barely able to make a sentence.
Sakura covered her mouth in fear, Sasuke and Kakashi-sensei tensed. A feeling of grim satisfaction crossed my mind at the sentiment that I was right, but the feeling fled quickly.
"Kakashi, still dragging around those brats I see." A voice from the mist spoke. Coming out of the cover was Zabuza and the tracker nin Haku from before, this time wearing the mask.
"So we were right, you were working with Zabuza the whole time." Kakashi-sensei confirmed. Sasuke began to shake and drew a kunai, Sakura copied his move.
"That one's still trembling." Zabuza mocked as several of his water clones appeared in front of us. Kakashi-sensei glanced down at Sasuke and gave him a little nod.
"I'm trembling with..." Sasuke gave a menacing smirk of amusement, "excitement."
"Go ahead, Sasuke." Kakashi-sensei stated calmly.
In an instant Sasuke was gone from our little group and attacking the clones. In seconds, and what must've been only a few slashes from his knife, the water clones splashed to the ground defeated. Zabuza only chuckled.
"Looks like you've got a rival there, Haku." The silent boy next to him nodded. "Take him out."
"Yes, Zabuza." The boy spoke in a quiet tone before launching himself at Sasuke with blinding speed. Sasuke, with equally blinding speed, parried his blows. Kakashi-sensei and Zabuza watched the two boys as Sakura fidgeted nervously beside me.
Something... isn't right. That boy, Haku, he's not showing us what he can do.
