In no time at all we reached their den.
"Mom, Hana, I'm home!" Kiba called as soon as he entered the door, Akamaru gave a yip to announce his presence as well.
"Oh my god, Kiba what is that stench?" a girl walked in. She was much taller than Kiba and I and had long brown hair with features that were reminiscent of Kiba's. Kiba groaned not enjoying being reminded of the earlier occurrence.
"Akamaru marked him." I offered stifling my giggles.
"Oh, hello, I didn't see you there." The girl began before turning halfway towards the room she had just come from, "mom, come out here, Kiba's brought a girl home!" in what felt like less than a second, Kiba's mother rushed into the room.
"C'mon, don't embarrass me..." Kiba groaned out, his cheeks a light pink.
"Kiba, why do you smell so horribly in the presence of your girlfriend? Go shower, immediately!" his mother scolded. Kiba's face was now the color of a tomato.
"She's not my girlfriend!" he yelled out before sprinting off to bathe, Akamaru falling off his head and into my arms in his haste.
"Hey, watch it! I almost fell to my death!" Akamaru barked out sounding disgruntled from being left behind.
"On the bright side, he's going to shower now. After all, you were the one who marked him in the first place." I reminded the pup who gave me a sheepish look in return.
"So you can speak to Akamaru too?" I looked up from the pup towards the two Inuzuka women. "Sorry, I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Hana, and I'm Kiba's older sister. This is Tsume, our mother." I nodded giving a bright smile to the two, praying that I could be respectful.
"I'm-"
"Miyu Uchiha, Konoha's resident wolf-girl. We've heard about you, ever since you showed up you've been the talk of the town." Tsume interrupted giving me a little smirk.
"Is it true that you lived with a pack of wolves?" Hana asked sitting down at the dinner table to talk, Tsume following her lead and pulling a chair out for me to do the same.
I joined them and nodded. Talking about my first and second families was still difficult for me, but I wasn't about to allow my own reservations to show disrespect. After all, I cared about Kiba and Akamaru and would be so upset if his family hated me.
"Uh, yeah. For about five years or so." I offered up.
"So that's why you can speak to ninkin. It makes complete sense." Hana nodded to me. I enjoyed Hana; she gave off a quite and composed atmosphere. Her maturity set me at ease.
"So, what are your intentions with our Kiba?" Tsume demanded setting her arm on the table with a thud. Taken off guard, I frowned.
"Well... he and Akamaru are my friends." Having heard his name, the pup yipped his agreement, still snuggled in my arms. Tsume nodded to me in thought.
Tsume seemed completely opposite to her daughter. Where Hana was reserved, Tsume was loud. She seemed like a demanding woman, but despite her demeanor her strength couldn't go ignored. No doubt, she was the strongest woman I had ever met.
"Listen here," Tsume began, "don't go breaking Kiba's heart-"
"Ugh, mom, we're not together." Kiba complained coming out from wherever he had run off to, his hair still wet and his parka missing. Tsume's harsh expression disappeared in a flash and Hana gave me a warm and amused smile.
"You smell much better." I commented easily. Thanks to his bath I could once again breathe in his natural scent, a fresh, musky earth smell like the air right after a rainstorm.
"So you like how Kiba smells, do you?" Hana asked, her tone light and teasing causing Kiba's face to heat up once again.
"Alright," Tsume relented, her tone much softer than before, "we'll stop teasing you kids. Now, let's get dinner started!" I smiled at Kiba who gave me a grin back as we both got to work helping prepare dinner.
After the initial meeting, the rest of dinner went by peacefully. Well, as peaceful as a pack of wild animals can be. If I didn't know better, I would've sworn they were from my pack, my second family. I felt so incredibly at ease that for a moment, even if it was just a few short hours, I didn't feel alone.
After dinner, Kiba offered to walk me home but I declined. I couldn't possibly trouble him anymore than I already had. He had already done so much for me, his family too. While the rest of the village gave me odd looks and thought me weird for my dog-like antics and inept social skills, the Inuzuka clan understood exactly what I was thinking and never once gave me a strange look.
I suppose since they have such strong connections to their ninkin they understood canine thinking better than most. After all, that connection is what drew me to Kiba and Akamaru in the first place.
I paused for a moment, wondering if maybe the Inuzuka's thought of me as one of their ninkin rather than my own person, but quickly dispelled the thought. After all, Kiba and Akamaru were brothers, not master and canine.
With an easy breath, the night making me feel light and happy, I walked into the Uchiha head household.
"Where were you?" I froze, feeling as if I was a little girl sneaking in from a late night of training again. I turned to see Sasuke sitting in the living room, his eyes not leaving a book he was reading.
"I was having dinner with Kiba and his family." I frowned turning to him fully.
Why would he possibly want to know where I was? What does it matter?
Suddenly, Sasuke's eyes snapped from the book and to my own with a dangerous flash.
"You were with that idiot?" he scoffed, "whatever." With that he got up and left, his demeanor incredibly angry.
Was I supposed to spend time with my own teammates instead of another?
I wandered into the kitchen looking for a glass of water before bed, still contemplating Sasuke's odd actions. It seemed as though I was always trying to figure him out, and I started to wonder if I ever would.
Halting me in my tracks, was a small plate wrapped up to preserve whatever was underneath, a sticky note with my name scribbled down on top. Curious, I lifted the wrap to see three large rice balls, expertly made, underneath.
He... made me dinner?
Suddenly, I felt incredibly guilty. While I was out having fun with Kiba, Sasuke was here eating dinner alone. My mind made up, I marched to Sasuke's room and knocked on the door. He didn't answer.
"Sasuke?" I called timidly, wondering if he was even there. Still I was met with no answer. I closed my eyes and took a whiff. It might've been difficult to distinguish him from the rest of his room, which of course had his scent, but his was so much stronger than his belongings that it was easy. I knew he was in the room.
He was just ignoring me.
"Listen, Sasuke, I know you're there and... I'm sorry. I didn't know." Still I was met with no response. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and my shoulders sagged.
I guess I've done all I can do for now. Maybe I can find a way to make it up to him.
With that thought I lay in my own bed and attempted to sleep.
Hey, guys! Next update, hooray!
Just wanted to let you guys know, in case it wasn't obvious, the videos I've been including recently are there for a reason. I don't expect you to listen while you read or anything, personally when I'm reading I like silence. But the music I've been including is specific.
I pick the songs based on the lyrics. All the songs I'll post on this story remind me of this story or my character Miyu. I often use these specific songs for inspiration while writing.
If you listen, you might find a little extra insight! But don't feel pressured.
Sorry for the long note. As always, post comments and such. Enjoy!
