I peered at the two curiously. I had no idea what 'Sage Mode' was or what contract I was supposed to sign to get it, but apparently Kakashi-sensei did.
"What do you mean?" my sensei asked.
"Take my Sage Mode for example. When I take in nature chakra I gain extraordinary strength, jutsu, and other abilities. But the nature chakra I take in is specific. I'm only able to gain those abilities in Sage Mode if I use nature chakra from Mount Myoboku and the only way to get there is to have a contract with the toads that live there." Jiraiya explained. I nodded only sort of understanding what the heck he was talking about.
"So what does that mean about my nature chakra then?" I asked causing the Toad Sage to turn back to me.
"Nature chakra is no ordinary chakra, as I'm sure you've seen. All nature chakra possesses incredible power because it's the very essence of life itself. Not only is nature the creator and destroyer of life, but it's also all around us giving off constant and endless energy. Not all nature is created equal. Some places, like Mount Myoboku, are infused with extra power reflective of those who live there. I think the nature chakra you use can't give you any extra powers or abilities, but it can give you healing and regenerative abilities." I furrowed my brow.
"So nature chakra heals me?" I surmised. Jiraiya shook his head.
"I can't say for certain, but as an initial guess that's what I would say. I would need more time with you; maybe some personalized training one-on-one to truly see how you harness your abilities. Of course, you could always enter Sage Mode if you made a contract with someone and used your abilities there." Jiraiya paused to chuckle and shake his head almost ruefully.
"It's like you have all the skills to become a Sage except the actual contract. Most ninja train years, sometimes their whole lives, to utilize nature chakra like you do, and even then most of them aren't ever able to reach your level. It's almost unfair that you're so adept at a skill so incredibly advanced."
So... I'm advanced?
"Hey!" Naruto yelled as he suddenly burst through my hospital room doors, "there you are, Pervy Sage! Are we goin' or what?" he demanded. Jiraiya laughed at the blonde and stood from his chair.
"Yeah, yeah, keep your pants on, kid." Jiraiya shook his head and turned back to me, "I'll be gone for a few days on a trip with Naruto. While I'm gone I want you to test something for me. Try to harness the nature chakra like you've been doing, but use it to heal your body. Let's see how much you can utilize the power of nature. When I come back we'll reevaluate your condition and maybe start some training." I nodded with a smile to the Sage.
"Hey, hey, come on already! You said you would teach me a new jutsu on the road, so lets go!" Naruto complained. I chuckled lightly.
"Hello to you too, Naruto." I commented with an eye roll.
"Oh, hey! I didn't realize you were visiting Miyu, Pervy Sage! I totally would've come with you! How are you feeling, Miyu?" Naruto bounced to my bedside. I wrinkled my nose at the blonde.
"I wish I had some of your endless energy, Naruto. The littlest tasks leave me totally drained these days!" I complained good-naturedly. Naruto smiled brightly.
"Don't worry about a single thing, Miyu! You just focus on getting better and when I'm back we'll go out for ramen!" I smiled brightly at the boy, his offer leaving my insides feeling warm.
"I can't wait, come back soon, ok? And be careful!" I shouted as the three boys began to leave my room.
"I'm always careful, Miyu!" Naruto protested with a giggle. I rolled my eyes at the blonde.
