"That hurt," the ninja spoke in a low and gravely tone as he lifted Konohamaru by the front of his scarf. He surveyed the small boy with a menacing smirk, "are all leaf nin as weak as you? Maybe I should just take you out now."
"Kankuro, don't. We'll get in trouble." The girl next to him, scent number 2, spoke.
I frowned to myself. If this was scent 1 and 2, then where's the last one? Is there even a last one?
"I'm sorry," Sakura gave a timid smile, "we were just messing around."
"You leaf Gennin are annoying," Kankuro spoke as he directed his gaze towards Naruto, Sakura, and I, "makes me want to kill you."
"Fine, I'm not involved." The girl next to him spoke and crossed her arms. I raised my eyebrow at the two and took a few steps closer so I was in front of the other children.
"I recommend you unhand the pup." I commented coldly. Naruto and Sakura turned to me with wide eyes that said 'what the heck are you doing these guys are crazy'. Kankuro smirked at me.
"Really? And what are you going to do about it?" he sneered and tightened his grip on Konohamaru causing the boy to whimper.
How dare he treat children that way?
I took a step towards him and bared my teeth.
"Release him." I growled sounding animalistic.
Naruto and Sakura blanched at my change in demeanor. I guess they've never seen this side of me before. I was carful to hide my animalistic tendencies in Wave Country, but with my growing comfort in the village I was finding it less necessary to hide myself.
Especially when children were in danger.
"Ooh, she's feisty. I like her." Kankuro spoke causing the girl next to him to give him a disgusted look, "I think I'll kill you first." A hint of bloodlust flared within me.
With the growing anger and annoyance from my team's constant idiocy I would love a good fight right now. It's just what I needed to let some steam loose before my team's constant selfish bickering caused me to lose my mind.
A rock whizzed by and hit Kankuro's hand, causing him to drop Konohamaru to the dirt. My eyes darted to the source to see Sasuke casually tossing rocks in the air as he lounged in a tree.
"Sasuke!" Sakura gasped in glee. I could practically see hearts in her eyes at his presence. I wrinkled my nose and clenched my fists in an attempt to calm myself.
There's nothing I hated more than when someone else took my prey.
"You guys are a long way from home." Sasuke spoke coolly as he casually crushed one of the pebbles in his fingers to dust.
So are you, Sasuke. Didn't you leave like 10 minutes ago? Why are you still here watching us?
"Look at that, another guy who pisses me off." Kankuro muttered as he took off a large bandaged wrapped structure from his back.
"You're going to use Karasu?" the girl next to him gasped.
I took a whiff of the air only to notice that the 'Karasu' was just wood. What's so special about a block of wood? Was this 'Karasu' the third scent I picked up earlier?
"Sasuke you're so cool!" Sakura yelled. I had to hold back a growl at her, couldn't she see that this wasn't the time to fan-girl?
"I hate show offs like you the most." Kankuro yelled angrily. Noticing a change in his demeanor I took another few steps closer. Now Naruto, Sakura, and all the children were standing behind me.
