My eyes widened at his strike and I quickly pulled up my arms to block his attack. Keeping my arms occupied, he threw a kick my way. I quickly dropped my block and tried to catch his leg so I could have the upper hand, but I had underestimated his strength – or maybe I overestimated mine.
The hit launched me into the air for a few seconds before I was able to twist my body so I could land on my feet. Without a seconds rest he was on me again. I blocked another punch from him and suddenly got a good whiff of his scent. With his close proximity, I could smell the faint hint of smoke.
This Kakashi-sensei is a shadow clone.
Recalling the training I did as a child, I knew that shadow clones were delicate. One hit and they would turn into a cloud of smoke. I jumped away from the clone of Kakashi-sensei and took in a deep breath of air.
I can smell the real Kakashi-sensei in a tree to my right.
I didn't once let my focus leave the clone; I couldn't risk him knowing I knew where he was or I would never take out the clone. With my newfound distance I drew a kunai and launched it for his face. Kakashi-sensei-clone moved his head to the side, a simple dodge for such a simple attack.
I smirked; he fell right into my trap. With lightning speed I drew a second kunai and launched it towards the first. The two collided with a clang as the first kunai changed its direction entirely. Kakashi-sensei-clone, having already attempted to dodge once, now had no time to correct his movements and the kunai collided with his toe. The clone was gone in a poof that I didn't bother to watch. The second my knife made contact with him, I spun to my right instantly finding the source of the Kakashi-sensei scent.
"Would you like to begin the real fight, Sensei?" Kakashi-sensei jumped down from the tree silently, like a cat. I hated cats.
"How did you know it was a fake, you weren't even using your sharingan?" Kakashi-sensei questioned slowly moving his feet into an attacking stance.
"You really think I can't distinguish the scent of a clone opposed to the real thing?" I gave my nose a little tap for emphasis and drew two more kunai. Kakashi-sensei nodded to me and pulled out his own kunai.
He's finally getting serious.
I activated my sharingan, knowing I would need it. I had never used my sharingan for anything other than tracking prey, so I honestly wasn't sure what else it could do. But what I did know was that Kakashi-sensei was at least ten-times faster than I am, and my bloodline trait would help me keep up.
In a similar fashion to his clone, he launched himself at me. Knowing this trick already, I brought my arms up to block, but he changed course last second and kicked me. Unable to avoid it I braced myself for impact and slid back, the sheer force of the kick pushing me through the dirt. I took a deep breath to re-focus myself.
Kakashi-sensei charged me again. Thanks to my sharingan I was able to block most of his attacks, only taking a few hits. Unfortunately I wasn't good enough to put him on the defensive. So I blocked attack after attack as he slowly pushed me backwards step by step. He launched another punch my way and I took a step back to better block myself. Another kick, I took another step.
Suddenly, while taking my usual step back to block, my foot hit something. I instantly lost my balance and fell backwards on top of whatever I kicked.
As it turns out, what I tripped on was Sasuke's head that for some reason was sticking out of the ground. He gave a light grumble seeing as I just kicked in him in the head by accident.
