I trudged up the stairs as I went to pack my things. Honestly, I wanted to stay here. The Isle Of The Lost has been my home since birth, and it feels weird to know that I'm leaving it. Opening my door, I sighed as I grabbed my rucksack and started packing my things into it. My three different outfits, my kid heels, the picture I have of dad, and my picture of me with Uma and her pirate gang on my birthday last year. It was fun that day; the pirates treated me like their captain, and anything I said, they would follow. And Harry had even tried to make me a birthday cake! I think he added too much sugar though, as everyone was up until midnight after that.
Zipping up my bag and pulling my jumper on- I couldn't be botherd to look cute and perfect anymore. -I shut my door and walked back down the stairs. Mal and Ben were waiting, smiling as they had just finnished signing the adoption papers. "Ready to go, Charlotte?" Ben asked. I sighed and nodded as I reached the bottom of the stairs. "I want to say goodbye to a few people first." I told them. They looked slightly confused but nodded and replied, "Who?" Crap, hadn't thought of this part. I thought for a second before replying, "That's doesn't matter. I'll meet you at the exit to the Isle. Someone will drop me off, it's fine. Please, you wouldn't like who I'm saying goodbye to." I told them. They looked at each other, and then turned back to me and nodded.
I smiled at them and ran out the house, shouting a quick goodbye to the other kids. Then I ran as fast as I could in my heels to Ursula's fish and chip shop, where I knew Uma and the pirates would be. I reached the door and had to stop for a breather. I sleep too much! Once I had my breath back, I rushed in and exclaimed, "I got adopted!" to the pirate gang. They all turned to me, and I saw Uma stand up from her seat. "What!? No, they can't take you! You're like my sister, and you're part of the pirates! What are we gonna do without our little cat to sneak around for us??" She exclaimed. Harry came over and picked me up onto his shoulders before sitting on a table near her. "I-I don't know! I don't even want to go, but Mal insists I do. Something about it being the only way to make it up to me." I told her, tears forming in my eyes as I looked at the only family I've ever known.
She sighed and fell back I to her seat in a sulk, clearly angry with Mal and Ben. "This is just karma. We took Ben from her, so now she wants to take Char from us!" Harry told her, putting me onto his lap. I hugged him as I started crying, and he wrapped his arms round my in a brotherly way. Harry has always been one of my favourite's in the pirate gang, with Uma being first and Gil being third. "I don't want to leave you guys, or the Isle. Dad's here, and I want to see him when I'm old enough to leave the orphanage." I told them all. Everyone tensed up and Harry put me down. "You need to get going. I'm assuming your meeting at the exit to the Isle? Gil, walk her back. And don't make her anymore upset than she already is." Uma instructed. I ran over and hugged her, but she just pushed me away, like I was some disease and she didn't want me. No one said goodbye, which made me even more upset as I left with Gil, my rucksack hitting my back with each step.
"Gil, what did I do? Why do the suddenly hate me?" I asked him as we walked. He sighed and turned to me as we passed Mal's old home. "They don't hate you. And you did nothing, Mal did. You'll work it out soon, but that all I'm allowed to say. Now, I can't go any further, considering the argument everyone is in here. Have fun in Auradon, and try to stay yourself. I don't want you to visit, and find some prissy princess and pastel pink dresses walk into the chippy!" He told me. I giggled at his joke and gave him a hug before walking to the exit.
Mal and Ben were waiting next to a limo, and they smiled when they saw me. But then Ben frowned as I reached him and I knew his question already. "Yes, I did walk back with someone. But Gil didn't want a fight with you two for dragging me from the gang, so he stopped at the corner. Oh, and Uma and the pirates aren't happy I'm leaving them." I told him as he went to speak. Mal's face soured as I mentioned the two names, but she managed to stay happy, somehow. "Ok then, let's go. Charlotte, you can sit in between me and your father." She smiled at me. I looked up and glared at her. "He is not my father. Neither of you are any family to me, and that's not going to change. The pirates are my family, and so is my dad, The Cheshire Cat. If you have any problems, change them yourself." I told her bitterly before getting in the car and sitting as far from them as possible.
