  Jason
It was late at night when Taylor got back to his place, unsurprized to see me standing on the front lawn waiting for him.

"Do you need something or are you lost?" he said as he stopped ten feet in front of me.

"Why did you hurt her? Your a freaken vampire, for pete's sakes! Why didn't you stay away from her!" I yelled at him.

He got angry now, "do you really think I didn't try?! She asked me over and over if she could come see me! I made it easier for her to understand! Besides, I ran before I lost control; she followed me into the woods!"

I rolled my eyes, there's no way that's true. "Why don't you just die, you blood-sucking monster!" I told him.

That comment caused him to lower his head and clench his hands into tight fists as if trying to hold back a memory of some sort. When he looked back up at me, I only saw the flames of hatred dancing in his eyes. "Don't you think I want to! I wish I was never sent here by my superiors so I would have never met you! Would it make you feel better if I said I wish I also died along with my parents? Now get out of here before I do something I'll regret. In fact, why don't you try to kill me? It's not against the law to kill a vampire."

I knew he was testing me when he lifted his arms from his sides and pointed at a sharp pointed rock. I took the rock in my hands to test it out. It sliced my palm a bit so it should work. Then something hit me. There's no point in doing this if this is what he wants. I drop the stone back onto the ground. "Just live with it. Live with the fact that you tried to kill her. I'm going home, your not worth my time." I told him.

The challenge in his eyes were gone as he walked past me towards his house. He stopped but didn't turn around to face me. "You don't know anything about me and trust me, you really don't. Next time, I'll hurt you if you try this little stunt again."

He continued walking out of hearing range as I said, ''I know more than you think." I started my way back home so I could finally finish this night in bed sleeping.

The next morning, the sun was shining very bright which made me wonder if vampires could really die in the sun or if they sparkle like twilight vampires. Maybe I could watch Taylor explode or something. I got dressed, grabbed a pop tart out of the toaster, and ran off to Brenda's house. When I got there, I was a bit surprized and disappointed to see Taylor talking to Brenda and her brother, Trey. Dang, so he can't die in the sun.

"Hey Jason! What took you so long?" Brenda asked me.

I shrugged and put on a fake smile, "I didnt know you guys were waiting for me. I would've been here earlier." From the corner of my eye, I noticed Taylor glaring angrily at me. I guess he hasn't told them yet.

She turned to the others, "so what do you guys want to do now?" Taylor looked away from her and whispered something so low only Trey could hear.

"Really? That's awesome," Trey said with a grin.

"What is?" Brenda asked her brother.

Taylor shook his head as if we weren't allowed to know.

"Sorry guys, I can't tell you. I don't want to ruin my chances just yet," Trey said.

I was very curious to find out what they were talking about, but something tells me that it has nothing to do with our world. If Taylor's involved in this, it has to be dangerous.

"Chances for what? What were you two talking about? One of you tell me!" Brenda complained to them.

"There are things you should know and there are things you shouldn't. I'm sorry to say, but this falls into that category," Taylor said with a shrug.

She turned to me, "don't you just feel left out when people keeps stuff from you?"

I nodded and took her hand. "Brenda, I need to tell you something very important. I don't want to hide it anymore, so can I talk to you privately?"

She nodded as Trey slowly shook his head. Taylor watched as I took her to the right side of her house. "Brenda, I've known you our whole lives. We grew up together and I didn't expect Taylor to get in the way. I love you, Brenda, but I know I don't have a chance anymore. I just want you to know that no matter what happens, I won't give up on you." I pulled her closer to me and kissed her, fully aware that Taylor was watching. I could tell I surprised her because she almost lost her balance. I didn't pull away from her until Trey cleared his throat.

Brenda hesitated a bit before walking back to her brother. "Didn't see that coming. I guess neither did he," Trey said with a glimpse at Taylor.

We couldn't tell how he would react to what just happened, especially with his hair covering his eyes as he stared at the ground. He isn't really taking it well, is he? The strong, fearless vampire boy actually has feelings.

"Taylor? Are you okay? Please say something," Brenda said with a worried tone.

All of a sudden, a teenage girl about our age came jogging by, wearing large combat boots you see marines wear, a black short sleeved blouse, and a pair of khakki pants. She stopped when her eyes met Taylor and said, "what died before is now reborn. Let no harm come to those we love."

We all stare at Taylor as he replied, "banish the evil to protect the good. We will fight until the safety of the innocent no longer needs protection." What is going on here? Do they know each other? I knew for a fact that the others didn't know what was going on either. Taylor gave her a slight nod before turning back to us.

"I have to go," he said without making eye contact.

"Who's that? What is going on, Taylor?" Brenda asked him as she grabbed his hand to prevent him from leaving.

He pulled his hand away fast and said, "a friend. I have to go."

It was no surprise to each of us when he does that, but we never expected him to ever be that quick to leave with her. We watched as he walked down the steps, off the yard, and away from view.

Trey shook his head slowly again. "You really messed up this time. You both know he's messed up so why would you two do that to him," he said disappointedly. Maybe I did take it a bit to far this time, but he'll get over it, right? Besides, I had to tell her before it's too late. I just had to put it out there.

"I guess I should go home. You might have some thinking to do," I told Brenda. She wouldn't look at me but I could tell she was very confused.
