Jason
Damn it, ever since I talked to the cops yesterday, they won't seem to leave me alone. After I got home from practice, Officer Nunez wont seem to leave me alone. He thinks that I know more than what I'm telling. Honestly, I sorta am. Telling a police officer that your working with vampire hunters will get you a one way ticket to a mental ward. I want to keep my sanity here, than loose it in a pysch ward! From the loud music playing in my room, I could faintly hear my mother calling out my name from the living room. "What, mom?" I called back as I lowered the music.
"The police are here and they want to speak with you!" I walked in to the living room where Officer Nunez and his partner were sitting.
"Hello Jason, you left so fast last time. We couldn't finish our talk," Officer Nunez told me.
"Listening to you guys blame everything on Taylor isn't really a conversation. He's innocent," I told them.
He placed a file down on the table, waiting for my reaction. "We need to know if Taylor has anything to do with Selena's murder. She was found slaughtered in a janitor's closet." I opened the file and saw the picture of her pale body. Her neck seemed to be broken at an odd angle and I couldn't help but notice two holes in her neck. I could feel my blood drain from my face as I put the picture back down.
"That isn't right. No one deserves to die like that way," I told them. They observed me closer . "All I can say is that Taylor would never do anything like this. It goes against everything he stands for."
Officer Joesph Winston spoke up. "Oh yeah? Tell us what exactly does he stand for? Because he got involved, Taylor is in deep trouble with the law." he told me.
"He stands for justice and order. He has dealt with so many terrible things by himself, but he will protect everyone he cares about. If anybody says otherwise, then they don't know him as well as I do."
Officer Winston crossed his arms over his chest as he laughed.
"Unfortunately, Jason, no one knows Taylor like Brenda and yourself. He seems to trust you two more than anyone in this city." Officer Nunez said.
I rolled my eyes at them. "Have you ever wondered why that is? Everyone treats him as if he's still just a sad little kid. Even I wouldn't want to talk to people if I was in his position."
They both sighed, clearly frustrated. "You should be glad that you never experianced what he did. What if your mother was killed? What would you do then?" Officer winston asked me, expecting a serious answer.
"I would demand justice. Nothing more and nothing less," I answered.
That's when mom stepped in. "That's it, get out. I don't see what any of this has to do with my son."
The officers stood up and turned to her. "Two students are dead, and your son may hold the information we need to find the murderer," Officer Winston said angrily. He clearly didn't like my noncooperation.
"My son doesn't know anything about it. Stop asking him and interigate that Taylor kid," mom said, clearly pissed off.
Both cops glanced at each other before saying, "Taylor won't speak to us. His only words to us were "it doesn't matter what I say. Your going to continue investigating against me."
I rolled my eyes, thinking to myself how stupid these guys really are. "He's right. You claim you want to help him, but you both continue to stack false evidence against him. Taylor has never killed anybody nor ever will kill a human."
Officer Winston stormed out of the house, leaving Nunez to apologize. Once both of them were in the car, mom said, "I don't want you alone with those guys. Next time they try to talk to you, make sure they have a warrent."
I nodded okay before going back to my room. I grabbed my phone from where it was sitting on my deskand dialed Taylor's number. After two rings, he answered.
"Look, this isn't really a good time, so this better be important," he said, as if in pain
"Are you alright? Is little Taylor getting hungry?" I joked.
"Oh yeah, and guess what little Taylor is going to do. Little Taylor is going to hurt you if you try to mock him again," he sounded irritated now.
"You won't hurt me," I told him, knowingly.
"I'm considering it. So what's so important?" I filled him in on the details of the unexpected visit. "Shit. Are you serious? They're going to try to talk to me again?"
I sighed before saying, "they're not going to stop until you do talk to them."
I heard him whisper the word "Damn" under his breath. "This is bad. How can my life turn into a living hell so quickly! If they find out what I am, I'll be punished for sure!" he shouted. There was a loud crack noise where I assumed he punched the wall.
"It can't be that bad. What will the association do to you that you can't handle?"
Taylor remained silent for a few minutes, thinking it over. "They could poor holy water, shoot me with an anti-vampire gun, burn me, or lock me away in confinement." Wow they sure do take thier punishments seriously...
"You have to find a way to avoid them. If they find out your a vampire and a hunter, your life really would turn into hell on earth," I told him.
I heard him wince before he said "thanks for the pep talk. I got to go." The call ended after three beeps, making me wonder why it is he sounds in pain.
Maybe Brenda will know... No, I have a feeling that she won't. Why is it that bad things seem to follow Taylor where ever he goes? It really has to suck being him.
