Practice was a blast today. We're definitely going to beat the badgers next Tuesday. It's going to be awesome. In the corner of my eye, I noticed someone was following me. I stopped where I was and looked back, only to find Ann-Marie walking over.

"What do you want? Did you follow me for my blood?" I asked her.

"I came here for a compromise. I know how you feel about that weak human, Brenda, and I need Taylor to forget about her." Is she serious? "If you help me take her out of the picture, I can hide her in a specific location for you to rescue her."

Just by looking into her eyes, I could tell she was very serious. "No way, I can't do that to her. How can I guarantee she will still be human?" I asked her.

"I cross my heart and give you my word. A pure blood's word is sacred so you can trust me," she replied back. I thought about it. Help her kidnap Brenda so she could have Taylor all to herself while I become her knight in shining armor.

"Tempting but no way. I don't want to put her in harm's way, especially give her to the vampire who tried to bite me when I found Taylor on the roof." I continued walking away until she grabbed my arm and jerked me back painfully.

"Listen to me, I can easily take your life away from you. Your blood is like a drug. I'll come back whenever I want to until I drink you dry. Unless, your wiling to work with me," she said threateningly.

I gulped and slowly nodded. "Alright, I'll help you. Just don't kill me or hurt her," I told her. She nodded and smiled sweetly as if nothing ever happened. "Meet me in the woods tomorrow morning. Make sure your alone. If I sense other humans, I'll assume they are hunters and I will give them a reason to hunt me down."

I gulped again. "I'll go alone. I won't bring any hunters with me," I told her as I stepped away from her.

"Don't forget" was the last words she said before disappearing from my sight.

I stood there, frozen with fear, and waited for my heart to go back to it's normal pace. "Are you okay?" Taylor's voice said as he stopped in front of me.

I glanced at him before focusing my attention on my Nike tennis shoes. "I'm fine. Why do you ask?" I replied lamely.

He shrugged, "you look pale, almost as if you seen a ghost." Fear rushed back into my heart as he took a breath. "It's as strong as... Fear. I could smell it all over you," he said as he took another step closer. He can smell fear?

"It's nothing. I'm okay for now," I told him.

He gave me a suspicious look as if he's trying to put the pieces to a dangerous puzzle together. "Jason, what happened," he demanded. I shook my head, refusing to say anything. "What. Happened," he demanded again.

"Nothing. I'm alright," I reassured him. I took a step away from him as I tried to keep my distance.

"Taylor, calm down," a strange voice called from behind. We turned our attention to a blonde man with green eyes as he walked over. He was a few years older than Taylor and the exact opposite from him. This man was as bright as day while Taylor was as dark as night.

"Never expected to see you here, Parker. I thought you were still stuck training the rookies," Taylor said conversationally.

Parker shook his head no, "Madeline volunteered to take over today's training session. Besides, your still the best rookie I ever had to train." So... Parker is Taylor's mentor? Hm... Maybe I could sneak away while their talking.

As if reading my mind, Taylor grabbed a handful of my shirt. "Don't even think about running away," he said as he returned his attention back to me. I slapped his hand away from me just as Parker grabbed my shoulder. "If you hold back any information about a scary, little vampire that's not here right now, we will take you in for questioning." I pushed his arm away too, shaking my head no.

"I don't know any other vampire besides this guy and his master," I told them. They exchanged looks before nodding in an agreement of something I didn't know.

"What did she do. Did she threaten you?" Taylor said seriously. He saved me from her on the day I found him. Could he somehow manage to get me out of this?

"Yes. She wants me to meet her tomorrow in the woods. She said if I didn't go alone, she will kill me and hurt Brenda," I told him.

At the sound if her name, he gripped my arms angrily. "You shouldn't go. I could protect her at the cafe, but the hunters I know are all on missions."

Parker nodded then looked up as if a light bulb lit up on the top of his head. "You go with him, Taylor. I can watch your girlfriend for you," he told Taylor. Taylor gave him a look but didn't deny his little comment.

"No. She doesn't know anyone from the association. She already saw Hailey and you know how she could be. I don't want Brenda to know," he said, trying to figure out another solution to the problem.

"That's easy, Taylor. I'll go undercover as a busy reporter. She won't suspect anything." I sighed, wondering if I could leave. "I'll go tomorrow. You guys can come up with a plan from there."
