Brenda
I shook my head no. "I'm not leaving anywhere! Not unless Taylor says it's safe," I told him. The thought of being alone with more than one evil vampire is scary. I mean, Taylor's experience sounded awful. I don't want to go through it alone."If you'd let me, I can take you to headquarters. No vampire could enter without a licensed hunter, so you would be safe there. Especially since the place is crawling with hunters," Taylor said as he stepped closer to me.
Jason shook his head no, "Brenda please listen. I'm putting my own life on the line here. Ann-Marie said she'll kill me, and not to mention the fact that she knows where I live. My mom could get hurt too."
Jason's mother has always been a kind hearted woman. She absolutely loved kids. I wouldn't want her to loose her only son, or get hurt because of me. Despite the fear of losing their own lives, Mom, Trey, and Taylor protect people from harm. They're all strong enough to handle it on their own.
Looking up into Taylor's eyes, I found the strength I needed in order to say, "fine. I'll go."
Taylor began shaking his head no. "It's not safe for you. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to report this to the association."
That made Jason jump to his feet and walk over. "Taylor, you can't report this without reporting yourself," he said with a victorious grin. "You knew what we were getting into, and you said to do it."
Taylor shook his head no. "I never said to go for it. I just wanted you to go to her little meetings to gather information for me. I never once intended to use Brenda for this mission."
Silently regretting what I was about to do, I clutched the necklace in my hand. Taylor's words about the flower being "delicate and strong" came back to me. "Taylor, I'm sorry," I told him as I remembered his first bite. The necklace glowed a pink light before paralyzing him on the ground. "I'm so sorry, but I don't want any more people to die because of me." I grabbed a chair and, with help, tied Taylor tightly.
"Wow, I never expected you to do this to him. I always figured you'd be the one untying him," Jason told me as he dragged Taylor into a closet.
I searched the area around him to make sure he can't get out by himself. "He didn't understand why I have to do this. I hope he forgives me," I told Jason as I grabbed some duct tape and covered Taylor's mouth. He seemed to gain consciousness as I placed the tape on him. He glared at me with angry eyes as he tried his best to free himself of the rope. He tried to say something, but we couldn't understand him through the tape. I kissed his cheek before locking him in the closet. "Let's go, Jason."
He led me out of Taylor's house and into the woods. I noticed that some of the trees had red and gold ribbons tied to the branches as Jason pulled them off.
I stopped walking as soon as I heard a man's voice laughing through the trees. As I began to look around, I noticed my legs wouldn't move at all. The man's laugh became closer until it completely surrounded us.
"Brenda, we need to get out of here," Jason said as he searched for the voice. He turned to me and tried to take my hand when all of a sudden, a tall, handsome man appeared. It was the man who looked like an older Taylor.
"You again? I was going to locate you myself but it seems you saved me the trouble little girl," he said as he walked over to me.
Jason shouted, "stay away from her!" as he tried to get between us.
The man turned his attention to him as he said "I have no use for an idiot like yourself. Your not a hunter of any kind. Therefore, your only a nuisance." Before Jason could take a step forward, the man pushed him back with intense force. Jason hit a tree hard before falling to his knees. "A friend and a member of a hunter family, you sure have weak friends. Shall we go? Or do you want to see your precious friend loose his life?" The man revealed his sharp fangs to me.
"No! Don't hurt him!" I shouted to the man. Jason only had time to look up before the man grabbed him and bit into his neck. I watched as Jason grew pale then dropped limp to the floor. "Jason!" I shouted as tears streamed down my face. I was suppose to prevent this from happening.
Finding myself able to move, I ran to his side. Blood ran down his neck almost like a river. His brown eyes closed forever, never to open again.
"Jason, please! Don't leave me here alone. Jason!" The man grabbed my arm and herked me to my feet.
"This boy is gone. Don't worry though. I gave him a quick, easy death." He threw me over his shoulder and ran off further into the woods.
I was scared. Jason died trying to help me. Taylor's locked away in a closet, probably still waiting for someone to find him. I truly messed up big this time. If I die, at least I'll know that no one else would have to die. Wait... Taylor said the necklace will protect me! I looked down at my necklace and noticed it's greenish glow. It grew bigger and bigger until I was completely surrounded in it. The glow burned through his clothes and his skin.
"You bear a protection charm from the hunters? That must mean you are very important to them. I wonder what would happen if I turned you," he said with clear effort to ignore the pain.
"I don't want to be a vampire. I don't want to have a master who kills for the fun of it," I said disrespectfully.
He stopped running when we were out of the woods, into the mountains. He carried me into a large, run down hotel called Raven's Suites before dropping me to the ground. It was dark with a thick smell of blood in the air. The sound of human screams filled the room as I was dragged around the place. Small holes on the wall where rats seem to scurry.
"Lisa! Derek! Come down here!" the man shouted out.
Two kids, a girl with pale skin, black hair, and brown eyes, and the little boy in the alley, appeared in front of the stairs.
"Dad, you called?" Lisa asked him.
He nodded before grabbing my arm. "Get a cage ready for this one. Derek, come here now!"
Derek stepped forward with an outstretched arm. "Here you go, father." By the look on his face, Derek seemed frightened at the sight of his own father. He made a pained face before his father ordered them to take me away
