Brenda
I held Taylor's head in my hand, hoping he would open his eyes. "Taylor, it's me. Brenda. We came to rescue you."
He begun to shake his head no, claiming it was impossible.
"Open your eyes, Taylor. We're all here for you. All fighting for you."
He opened his eyes and met mine. Fear, sadness, and regret swirled in his irises, showing me how truly terrified he was. I have to admit it was unsettling to see true fear on a usually strong face. "Get away from me! Get away!" he shouted at me.
"No!" I shouted back. "I'm not leaving you!" That's when it hit me. Taylor was hurt all over, stained by blood and dirt. His fangs craved to bite into human skin. I pressed myself against him, offering my blood to heal his pain. Hailey and Jason had already freed his arms from the chains that held him back. "Go on, Taylor. You need it."
He hesitantly wrapped his arms around me and bit into my neck. I ignored the pain I felt from his bite and held him close to me, smiling. "Do you feel better now?" I asked when he stopped. Most of his wounds had healed over, leaving only one large scratch on his stomach untouched.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, looking at each of us for an answer. "When did you become a hunter?"
I threw his arm around my neck and wrapped my own around his waist. "When you disappeared," I answered.
I helped him get to his feet, but as soon as we turned around, Samuel appeared almost out of thin air. "I'm sorry, children, but Taylor can't play today." He grabbed me by the throat and forcefully threw me towards Jason. Hailey charged and had actually lasted longer than I had before he slammed herinto the cement on the ground. Blood ran down her head as he got near her.
Jason and I got up and charged. He kept Samuel busy long enough for the necklace to work it's magic. I stood in front of Taylor protectively, determined not to loose him.
"Brenda, you can't kill him," Taylor whispered.
"Of course not. I can't kill a vampire by myself," I answered back.
He shook his head no as if I didn't understand. "You shouldn't even be here. get the others and go. I'll be fine on my own."
I couldn't move my gaze to him to see if he was serious. I just shook my head no. "I lost you once. I'm not doing that again."
Hailey and Jason were distracting him long enough for me to focus on one emotion. Anger. An angry red light lit up the room, stopping everyone in their tracks. the light itself was blinding, leaving every single one of us exposed.
I pulled out his gun and handed it over to him. "This belongs to you. Finish it."
He held the gun in his hand for almost a second before smirking. "With pleasure."
All of a sudden, Parker jumped out from a pile of corpses and stabbed his anti-vampire sword through Samuel's body. "Fire, Taylor!" He's ready to go," Parker shouted as he jumped out of the way just in time for a bullet to pierce his heart.
"This game sure was a lot of fun. I lost, but the real game has just begun." Samuel's body slowly turned into ask, leaving Jason to feel as if something big was disappearing.
"Consider this shot for my parents, the one's you killed." Taylor fired another shot, causing Samuel's body to disappear completely. Parker grabbed Jason and helped him walk as Hailey and I helped Taylor.
"Your free now, Taylor." I whispered to him. "You got your revenge."
He didn't answer until we found ourselves in the lobby of the mansion. Lisa and Derek, the two kind vampires, were waiting with big smiles. "Thank you, hunters. Thank you for freeing us from that truly evil beast consider us allies now."
Taylor nodded, "a deal is a deal. I'll make sure no hunters hurt you two, as long as no reports come in with your names on it."
Derek giggled before saying, "we promise to behave. The last thing you will see of us or this house is us burning it to the ground. We're going to start over someplace new, but we'll check in with you guys every now and then."
I waved goodbye to each of them, thankful that they helped Taylor when none of us could.
As soon as we stepped into the sun, hunters shouted out the heavens in victory. I looked at each of my friends faces to see a big smile on each of their faces, even Taylor. After long hugs, pats on the backs, and even people messing up his hair, Taylor decided to return home.
Hailey mentioned Megan's wish to him, so he promised to return for Christmas eve. "Everyone make sure Megan doesn't know anything about Taylor. No one tell her anything so we could surprise her!" Hailey shouted, just as we all turned to go.
Jason, Taylor, Trey, and I followed the adults out of the woods. Trey and I said our goodbyes to Jason and Taylor for the day and turned to follow mom back home. Dad was no doubt angry about all of this, but seemed much more relieved to the fact that neither of us died.
Like old times, Trey and I changed into Pajama pants and watched a movie in his room. We were half-way through Iron Man when we both fell into some well-deserved sleep. That time, Taylor was surrounded in a bright light as if the darkness that once surrounded him was lifted. With a smile on his face, he held his arm out to me. Instead, I jumped into him and wrapped my arms around him.
"I'm glad your okay, Taylor. I'm very happy."
He wrapped his arms around me before saying 'your the reason why I'm alive. I could have ended this back when I had just turned. It's thanks to you that I am standing here right now."
I felt my smile grow as the dream filled my body with a sense of peace. I cuddled closer to my brother, glad that everything in our lives was heading back on track.
