Jason
Everyone was ready to fight by sunrise, five days before Christmas. Taylor has been missing for a week now, fighting a darkness he may not come back from. The look on everyone's face was anger. They were angry at Samuel for making a fool of the association. They were angry for all the humans who were killed. Most importantly, they were angry that he had the nerve to take Taylor away.I can see why Taylor loves it here. Everyone is a one big monster killing family, and for someone like Taylor with no known family members, this is all he's got.
"Hunters, we have been waiting for this day to arrive. Today is the day we take back out family member, and end the darkness that hurts him so much. Let us sound the drums of war today!" Mr. Anderson shouted.
All around, the sounds of cheering and weapons being loaded filled the building. Brenda, who has trained very hard, was dressed in the same clothes as the others with weapons attached to her belt. Her brown hair was pulled back into a ponytail, leaving only a few strands inn her face. "Ready to go?" she asked, just as Hailey, Parker, and Megan walked over.
"As I'll ever be. This guy needs to pay for what he's done, not only for me , but for Taylor."
They nodded and began to follow the crowd out the exits. I was stopped by Megan as she pulled me close to whisper in my ear. "Good luck to all of you. Be careful, okay, and bring Taylor home."
I nodded and smiled. "You can count on us to get him back safely." I ran to catch up to the others who were clearly waiting for me by the door. We marched along with the other hunters until we noticed a large crowd of vampires blocking the way into a large mansion. Taylor's parents stepped out of our large crowd, Mrs Hernandez at their side, and pulled out their weapons. "
"Step aside now, filthy vampires, and we may let you leave with your lives." The vampires only smiled before charging after our crowd of hunters.
"Then allow yourselves to be the first to fall."
Every vampire that fought with a hunter seemed be easily beaten with one swing of a sword or one bullet to the chest. Some hunters were using rods, bows and arrows, knives, and other kinds of blades. I swear, this was like stepping into an action movie except with real sound effects.
Along with the others, I killed in order to clear the path ahead. When we managed to step inside the large building, we were greeted by my master, Samuel Marcus.
"Well, if it isn't my loyal servant. Tell me, are your hunter friends returning you to me?" he teased. "If so, I do have some orders ready for you."
Parker was the one to figure it out first. "Jason,, cover your ears and get out of here now," was all he told me.
"What are you planning to do?" I asked.
The girls didn't bother to wait for his reply. They took my arms and dragged me off into a hallway.
"Jason, don't let them near Taylor," was shouted out by Samuel.
My body began to move on it's own now, leaving me powerless to his command. I pushed both girls away from me and took in the different scents until I recognized the strong scent of Taylor's blood. "I must obey my master."
I ran in the direction of the smell, leaving the girls to follow far behind. After running through so many twists and turns, I finally found the door that leads to Taylor. As the sounds of footsteps reached my ears, I turned to face them. "My master doesn't want Taylor to have any visitors right now."
They stopped in front of me, eager to get passed.
"This isn't you, Jason. Don't follow his orders anymore!" Brenda shouted out. "Don't let him change you!"
My hand reached out for her slender neck, making me wish I could regain control. "I must obey. I have to obey Samuel."
Before my hand could touch her, Hailey threw a small blade into my hand. "Someone needs to teach this dog some manners. Now, unless you want another hole in your body, I suggest you stop cowering in your head and fight for control of your own body!" Hailey was clearly furious with me.
Was it because I couldn't control myself right now, or because Taylor was waiting?
"Jason, listen to what I'm saying. you can fight back. He hurt everyone you know, so don't let yourself be a victim anymore!" She was right.
Everyone lost something to him, and I need to fight back now. I can't let him control me anymore. I mentally fought myself, feeling my hand, without the dagger in it, physically hold my head as my body shakes hesitantly.
"H-Hailey, open the door. Hurry though!" I looked over to Brenda now as Hailey did what she was told. "Kill me. Kill me right now, Brenda," I ordered her.
She shook her head no. "I can't kill you. I won't kill you," was all she said as she stepped away from me. "I haven't given up on you either." Her necklace glowed a sky blue and surrounded my body.
I didn't know what was happening, but it's light made my body relax, almost as if purifying my mind of Samuel evil. When the light died down, Brenda pushed me into the doorway.
"Let's go. Taylor's waiting for us to save him. After all, we are a part of his family."
I didn't bother to mention that Taylor didn't consider me a friend but decided it wasn't the time. We just followed Hailey into the dark, cold room.
The stench of death and decay was strong and foul, but I could smell Taylor anywhere. He was chained to the wall, currently on his knees while his arms help up the rest of his body. Taylor didn't bother to look up at us as we stepped closer. His eyes were squeezed shut as if he were holding back a scream.
"Dead. Everyone's dead," he whispered. "All my fault. I couldn't save them."
Hailey and I began to pick the locks on his wrists, but I couldn't help but notice all the corpses in the room. Some of the corpses had some very familiar faces, but others were harder to recognize. I guess they were the ones Taylor was talking about...
