Brenda
My heart hurts. It's feels as if I'm losing everyone that I care about. Mom left after Taylor to some mandatory meeting, dad's working, Trey is busy all time all the time, Taylor is mad at me, and Jason is apparently Law's best friend. What am I going to do? Should I ask Taylor to train me too? I don't want to be the one holding him back from his job. Nor do I want to be another damsel in distress that needs to be rescued in one of those fairy tales. Man, I wish I knew how to help everyone.
In order to clear my head, I decided to take a walk. I grabbed my ipod and stuck the earphones into my ear as I locked the front door to my house. As I began walking, a light perspiration started on my forehead. It's really burning out here and I didn't bring a water bottle. In the distance, I heard a small child, probably around five, crying out for his mother. Maybe I could help him find his parents.
"Hello, are you lost?" I asked him.
He wiped his tears away with his sleeve as he nodded. "I lost my mom and dad. I don't know where they went," was all he said.
I held out my hand for him as I introduced myself. "My name is Brenda and I'll help you find them."
He hesitantly took my hand. "My name's Derek. I think they went this way," he led me away towards an alley where the sun doesn't seem to touch. I looked back and noticed that I couldn't see the busy streets or the walking people .
"Derek, are you sure your parents came here?" I asked.
He shook his head no. "I'm lost and I don't know how to get home!" he cried out. His cried out. His cries brought back my conversation with Taylor.
"Don't worry. I'll get you back with your family. Don't cry anymore, okay?" Derek nodded and cleared away his tears.
Just then, someone was clapping behind us. "Bravo! This show is sweet but I prefer a bit more action," the man said revealing his sharp fangs. I pushed Derek behind me as the vampire got closer. "Your name is Brenda, am I right? Your wanted throughout our community for revealing one of our own to the hunters."
As the man stepped closer, I couldn't help but push Derek back. "Stay away from us! I'm a hunter as well!" I shouted at him. The vampire laughed loudly. He knew I was bluffing.
"You will never make it as a vampire hunter, kid. Your too... Kind. That's the one thing hunters can't have. You don't even know how deep you put yourself in trouble." He told me. As he took another step forward, he bared his fangs again, ready to attack his prey.
Just then, we heard a gun shot. The vampire was screaming as he held his shoulder.
"Step away from the girl," a cold voice said. Taylor stepped out of the shadows, holding a gun in one outstretched hand. "If you refuse, you shall die where you are standing," he said angrily.
The vampire turned to him, angrily. "A vampire hunter? I can sense it. Your thirst is strong, but unfortunately, this girl is mine," he told Taylor.
Taylor bared his fangs at the vampire as he shouted, "she belongs to no one! That girl shall not become your meal!" Taylor met my gaze and gestured for me to run. Following his orders, I grabbed Derek's hand and ran to his side.
"That girl was my dinner. Would you like to battle for her here, little hunter child," the vampire said.
Taylor shook his head no. "Loke, consider yourself dead." He fired the gun just as Loke tried to attack. I watched terrified as Loke fell to the ground dead and turned into ash. "You better have a good reason why your walking into an alley with a vampire," he said coldly.
"I didn't know there was a vampire here. I just wanted to help Derek here find his parents," I replied back. Derek took one look at Taylor before stepping away. Taylor grabbed the young boy's arm and forcefully pulled him closer.
"This kid is a vampire. Don't you think it's strange that his parents would be in a dump like this?" I looked at Derek as he tried escaping Taylor's grip unsuccessfully.
"Let me go! I'm sorry for what I did but he made me do it!" Derek cried out. Taylor aimed the gun at Derek's head, eager to pull the trigger.
"NO! Don't Taylor!" I shouted out to him. He glanced at me before lowering his weapon.
"I will not kill you today, but if you hunt on hunter's territory, I'll hunt you down myself," he threatened. Derek nodded before running off into the woods. He hid his weapons back under his shirt before turning to me. "What were you thinking? You could've gotten yourself killed!" he scolded me.
I have never seen him this mad at me and it scared me. "Leave me alone!" I shouted at him. Just then, the necklace he gave me glowed a sparkling purple color as light surrounded me completely. Taylor was pushed back a couple feet. Surprise was written all over his face. "You have no right to tell me what I am or am not allowed to do! Your not my parents! Now I'm beginning to wonder if you even want to be friends! I'm not a little kid! I can take care of myself!"
As the angry words spilled out of me, light flew to Taylor, shocking him painfully. When I noticed I was hurting him, I stepped away from him. He breathed heavily as he tried to sit up straight from where he had fallen to his hands and knees. "I'm Sorry Taylor! I never wanted to hurt you!" I told him.
He didn't look up at me as he fell completely to the ground. "J-just st-stay away from me," was all he said before he lost consciousness.
Now I was really scared. I threw his shoulder around my neck and dragged him back to his house.
