Chapter 41

Wednesday

A day till Spencer's date.

Spencer.

I talked to Melissa about what Liam said about staying here and she agrees.

I just want to ask my mom what she thinks before I make my decision.

I walk into the main house.

"Mom, are you home?" I call out.

"Up here" she responds.

I run upstairs and see her reading and planning stuff in her room.

"Hey sweetie how are you?" She asks when I walk in.

"I'm good mom, how are you?"

"Busy" she chuckles

'Like always' I think to myself.

"Hey mom, I wanted to talk to you, can you take a break for a minute?"

"Yeah of course" she looks up at me "what is it honey?"

I sit on her bed across from her.

"Well it starts with Toby being engaged to Hanna, and she's pregnant. Cassidy told me that Toby told her they are speeding up their wedding date. Instead of like 8 months from now, he first said in two weeks, but they changed it until two weeks after Cassidy's wedding. It effected me but I moved in yesterday and met a guy as the kids and I were out, and Toby saw us and yelled because the kids had met this stranger before jetting their own father. Anyway, the guy told me I shouldn't have to go back to d.c and hide away when my life is here, and I've already stayed away for 7 years while everything was happening here. This is my town too and I should stay, it's better for me and my kids here. And I agreed with him and told Melissa, who also agreed, I just wanted your opinion, as the finally say. Should I stay?"

"I'm so sorry honey, About all that, I know it must've been hard for you, but you look happy. I see this new spark in your eye, I've only ever say this with Toby and your kids. I say listen to him, he's right. You should stay. If you feel okay in your heart as well as with what we are saying do it. Stay. We are all here to support you"

"Thanks mom" I smile

"Anytime. Soooo you have a date?" She smirks and I chuckle

"Yeah, tomorrow night actually."

"Good, I'm happy for you"

"Thank you mom"

When I head back into the barn I decide to do what I've been avoiding to do yesterday.

Since Melissa took the kids out it'd be the perfect time, but I've been avoiding talking to Toby. It's been a day and a half since that encounter,

I gulp and dial his number.

Toby

I look at my phone and see Spencer calling me.

"Hello" I answer.

"Toby " she mumbles before clearing her throat "I uh, I'm calling about what you said on Monday, about wanting to see your kids, and since they want to too I think it's only fair that me as their mother make it happen." She starts, talking firmer, the inner lawyer coming out. "For the 3 meetings however I am going to be present. If they agree to continue meeting you and I see they are okay alone in your hands, I will stop being present and will just need to know where you are taking them and who they are going to be around as safety precaution for me and them."

"Alright" I say "When's a good time for you?"

"I'd have to ask the kids when they come home later, maybe Friday?"

"Sorry, Friday won't work. What about the weekend?"

"Sorry, I'm moving those days"

"Moving?" I question.

"Yeah, back to rosewood."

'Wow, so one talk, one date with a random guy gets you to move back here but me begging you in the grill as well as a year of letters didn't do anything?! I mean sure you didn't read them but you saw me trying!' I say in my head, before shaking it "That's good, I'm glad"

"It's convenient for both of us. I get to be closer to my family and friends and your kids will be living in the same town, making visits easier"

"That's true"'I say. 'But you also get to be closer with that..... That dude' "So um, what about tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow afternoon could work" she says

"Alright then"

"When the kids get home I'll call you and tell you a specific time. Where do you want to meet?"

"If its afternoon we could go to lunch. They like Chuck E. Cheese?" I ask

She chuckles "they love it"

"It's settled then"

"Alright. I'll talk to you later then"

"Okay, bye"

Hearing her voice made me feel happy, hopefully after all this we could at least me friends.

Spencer
A hour later

"Kids, I was talking to your father today. And we were thinking about the four of us having lunch tomorrow. But it's up to you two, the whole jetting your father thing
Rests on your shoulders okay?"

They nod. "Tomorrow is okay, but what about your date?" Amber asks

"I'm still going on my date, just after. But hey, don't tell your dad about the date, it isn't necessary" I say and they nod.

"Okay mommy" Roshaun smiles

Guess it's happening tomorrow
