When I left the house this morning Cheryl was still sleeping off her hangover just like she does every morning after the night before. I thought I better take Paisley out the house for a while to let her sleep because with an energetic two year old it’s hard to keep the house quiet at the best of times. I don’t know why she drinks so much when she knows the consequences she will face the next morning, it makes no sense to me. That’s the main reason I don’t drink heavily, I’ve only had one hangover in my whole life and that’s more than enough, heavy drinking doesn’t really appeal to me. I’m back at my parents’ house and it’s like I’ve never been away. They have me making all the teas and coffees and Sarah an Nicola are popping around later on as with me never being here Sarah hasn’t saw much of my family which is just like her family too.
“Here, Sal” I hand her a mug of coffee and I hand my dad his tea before plonking down on the sofa next to Adam and Paisley.
“Thanks love” My dad smiles. “So how is everything with Cheryl?” He asks almost as soon as my behind hits the sofa.
“It’s good, great in fact”
“You defiantly seem happier now, you’re no longer moping around”
“I never moped!”
“You did!” Adam laughs and I slap his leg. “But I do feel happier, much happier”
“When can we meet her”
“Oh yeah I ws thinking … She will be at Paisley’s birthday party obviously and we’re going to invite her family down. Is that ok with everyone?”
“It your party love, invite who you like! It will be lovely to meet her”
“I wonder what the neighbours will think, a garden full of Geordies” Sally laughs
“Paisley has changed dramatically since you got together, she’s been an angel” My dad grins in Paisley’s direction. She’s sat on Adams lap quietly playing on the iPad like butter wouldn’t melt. I scoff sarcastically and shake my head.
“She most defiantly isn’t an angel, she has her moments. I think she whines more than she does talk”
“Doesn’t that remind you of someone!”
“I guess she is too much like me” I laugh.
“It’s better than her being like her sperm donor” Sally comments.
“Sal!” I widen my eyes and look at my dad then back at her.
“What? Well that’s basically what he is isn’t he? He isn’t a father”
“If only he could see what he is missing out on”
“If I ever saw him I swear I would be going to jail” Adam adds.
“I doubt you ever will so don’t worry” I smile patting his knee.
“Do you hate him?” Sally asks randomly and I shrug staring into my coffee swirling around in my mug.
“Why are we even talking about him?”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to bring him up its –“
“Its fine dad, let’s just talk about something else now, yeah?”
“Ok darling, your mum should be home soon with Amy, shes been looking foward to seeing you”
“Who mum or Amy?”
“Amy although your mum has missed you too of course”
“How is Amy? She told me she has my room now”
